Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only. After 73 years, I’m still trying to incorporate this into my life. Maybe I’ll get it, the next 73 years.

People say to me why did you take two others into my home. My son's fiancé, and my brother. She needs a job and my brother needs to not be so foul & rude and I wish he would stop drinking. It goes beyond me. I thought I would be a good influence on him and her. All I can do is give to God. I am also coming to the point of I want to move to Canada due to what is happening here. I think it is more than just the TEN commandments. Jesus guides us when we allow it. "Faith without works is dead"

Thanks guys again. I love your comments and James comments especially on faith. Our faith moves us to do that which is good. It is the doing of our faith that brings great blessings to our lives. You mentioned seeing your missionary. We too had the honor to see our missionary while he is serving. When the New Zealand Temple was dedicated all the missionaries who was not able to be endowed before entering the field was taken to the temple and we were invited to attend that session with our missionary. The joy to see our missionary run down the sidewalk into his fathers arms was so touching. And all this because of the doing part of faith made it all possible. Love you all

Thank you so much for your insights. I teach the youth Sunday School in our little branch in South Dakota. I love the jellybeans idea! I thought I would put some jellybeans in little baggies and attach various scriptures from James to them. The youth can then choose a bag of jellybeans, read the scripture, and lead the class in a discussion about the scripture they have chosen. Thank you for the idea, and keep up the good work.

I love in James 1:5-6 that James gives us permission to “ ask” in faith. Our God wants to hear from us. I think some think we shouldn’t have questions, but through questions we find answers. and find truth. And through trials is when I can testify that Our Heavenly Father holds us closer… during struggles is when Jesus Christ hugs us deeper and longer. We don’t need to go through these things alone! Life is so much better with Jesus!

James 3:10 - As I’ve gotten older and tried to manage my emotions I’ve realized that the mouth is the outlet for emotions. If we can manage and tame our emotions then those hurtful things won’t come out and we’ll be able to share blessings out of our mouth instead of cursings.

You are spot on! These five chapters of James are chock-full of jellybeans ! Chapter 5:13 asks: "Is there any among you afflicted? Let him pray...." I asked them to dwell on one thing that they KNOW is true about the Savior on their long commute home today. Then, base their thoughts, communications, and actions on that one thing. I don't know if they will do it but at the very least, I acted! Thank you for ALL your time and efforts!

The psychologist there said he's not autistic he is mentally retarded. IT took God holding me back not to climb over the table, but I did tell her to get out! and called the Board on her. It was also when I joined the Church :) The next school wasn't that good either. Bullied terribly he stopped showering They moved him to transitions, they did nothing for him. He needs 4 classes now to finish his AA in graphic arts. He is very electronically inclined and is engaged.

My COMMENT: When you were talking about James 1:22-27; "being hearer of the word", it made me think, maybe I'm not hearing what they are trying to convey. You know. Like I'm misinterpreting what they are saying. Just a thought. ~ Steve, when you talked about "how many of you have a friend, they joined the church and all a sudden they're made like a primary teacher and they're like, what the heck, I've never taught anything in my life." Well . . . that kind of happened to me, except, they called be BEFORE I converted!!! ~ Chelsea, when you were talking about moving out of your "comfort zone", I've looked back on my life. I've done things that I didn't want to do, but through Heavenly Father's love for me (and a kick in the pants), I did it!! ~ Things that I got out of this lesson (word/phrases): Patience; Doers of the Word; just do it ~ Peace ~ Faith ~ Priesthood. The Book of James should have a sub-title "Father of Lights". It brings so much hope and peace to my soul. Thank you both. Just so you know, I love every Jelly Belly that Heavenly Father has given me, even the chastisements 😥, but especially the many, many blessings, that I don't deserve 😃

Yes, Steve. Evangelical Christianity is like how my fellow reporters do much of their reporting, sadly. They accentuate certain truths but don't tell the whole story. We all need Christ's grace but if we stop acting, we become Satan's slaves. Grace and works work in tandem. Anyone who does not see that is being deceived.

James 4:1-3 - Our desires for pleasures and gratification are often at war in our minds and hearts. We often seek in our daily lives for things that are not good for us and are certainly not the will of the Father, but we don't bother to ask. When we do ask, we ask amiss for things that are only lusts (desires, or wants). We need to seek for those things that are the will of the Father to give to us, and then we will not go amiss and we can "come boldly to the throne of grace." (sorry for going back to Hebrews). See Helaman 10:4-6 to see the great power that Nephi had because God knew that he could trust him, and he would not ask for anything that was not pleasing to the Lord. I am trying to get to that point in my own prayers and pleadings with the Lord.

Just a "little" clarification. Jellybeans, Jellybellies and Harry Potter Berti Bots every flavor beans are different and you are mixing them up. Jellybeans are different colors, but have slight basic fruit flavors that correlate with the fruit color. Jellybellies have harder shells are smaller and comes in variety of flavors like popcorn, rootbeer, watermelon, etc. But not gross flavors. HP Berti Bots every flavor beans have the harder shell like the above, but they have EVERY flavor. Good and gross. Peppermint, cherry, chocolate, etc and ones like spinach, liver, boogers, vomit, etc... The acting on the prompting quickly and not procrastinating rang true to me.
