When President Nelson pleaded with us to find joy in the gift of daily repentance, it opened my mind to that idea of being unspotted, spotless before God. Every single time we turn our thoughts back to Jesus Christ, all day long, we are repenting. In addition to saying we're sorry and trying to change our behavior, every time we think of Him again, always remember Him, we are repenting. This changes our behavior and through His grace, we become more like Him. If we find JOY in this daily, all day long, we can remain unspotted from the world. And because Christ is the veil, the Father will mercifully see us through Him.🙌 We can be clothed in Christ!

My P.B. says that. When I return, it will be necessary to return as did'st depart, pure and free from evil. Restitution is what I need to work on.

I am kind of a free thinker but When I read whosoever look at the law of liberty my mind immediately went to Jesus Christ. I thought of it as a name for him. He is what liberate us from all things, and I saw that as a reminder that, instead of looking to ourselves, we should look to him for all the wisdom that we need.

I know we can ask our Father for gifts. I always plead for the gift of memory, to not forget the things I have learned and read or heard and felt. I know we can't just ask but have to try to grow in that gift as well. I feel I might be growing but it is a task. I think it might include how we take care of our bodies, what we eat, that we exercise, and get enough sleep...Sounds like following the "Word of Wisdom." I think "when we do these sayings, the Father gives away secrets of the universe". Wisdom

James 1:27 is to me one of the most meaningful scriptures in all our canon. In addition to the first two commandments this verse defines PURE RELIGION. It seems a whole podcast or two (or ten) could be spent on this one verse. To me, this scripture says to care for the orphans. It literally says the "fatherless" but I think it is not a stretch to read this as to include all those who are parentless. Another way to read the verse is to think of those who are most vulnerable. Many years ago I had the song of I am a Child of God go through my mind. I heard it in a different way that day. When I heard "God ... sent me here, has given me ... parents kind and dear" it made me wonder if God's plan was for all children to have a family and to have parents kind and dear, and therefore there is a lot for me to do to fulfill God's plan. I encourage all of us to consider our resources and blessings and share with others, especially the vulnerable who may not have parents. If family is one of your blessings, then consider sharing family with others. Fostering and adoption is spoken of so little yet is such a great way to share God's love. Like the Book of James emphasizes - let us all be doers of the word. P.S. I thoroughly enjoy your podcasts!

James 1:23-25 makes me think of Alma 5 verse 14. Part of that remembering work we are to do. I wish I would have been listening in that first month of the Follow Him podcast. I love the insights and depth I find in these videos.

I really loved both parts of this week's reading. I am so grateful for the thoughtfulness put into the content of this show. I went and listened to Dr. Haws' BYU speeches talk and found it so wonderful. I admit that I suffer from imposter syndrome at work. I think someone will see I don't perform like someone else so that manager will pull me aside and ask why I am not doing as well as others.

I am trying to have 2 radio stations in my head as i travel through the day. First radio is be present to priorities of the day. 2nd is a spiritual connection to the spirit. I practice as im moving through life that the holy ghost radio is on and be listening as i move through day. If i dont practice every day to have both stations are on… i have been able to hear the spirit much more .. and the more you act immediately to spiritual promptings, the more information you get. Practice walking out your door being Aware that you are listening to two stations and practice keeping both on! If you only think of you and your day, you lose the beautiful promptings of the holy ghost station. 😊😊🫣🤗🤗 i know im weird 😅

In regard to the discussion about the mirror, and the need to be reminded always, I think Heavenly Father knew that we as a natural man, would easily forget and that is one reason why Jehovah had them put on the phylacteries and the fringe and the door post thing (sorry, I forgot the name) to help them remember. But in time those things became so common to them that they were no longer reminders. That is why we need to be in the scriptures every day and be with fellow saints often and attend the temple often and partake of the sacrament every week. If we do what we are asked to do God has given us those reminders. If we have ones that we personally need to work on we need to build a system for ourselves to be reminded and ask for God’s help to remember.

I really enjoy the service you brethren render with your podcast. The 3 of you fine men (John, Hank and JB Haws and all of your guests) are great examples of how the Lord can refine and sanctity His garden variety Saints into wonderful disciples. Your effort each week inspires me to be better and not give up! Hurrah for Israel!

James is a favorite book of mine. To my mind, a mirror only provides an image of outward appearance. In contrast if you are a doer of the word , you know what kind of person he is by what he does by how he lives. The gospel is an integral part of his life. Not just an outward appearance. Just a thought.

This is has been a great experience listening to this episode. I struggle with other members who love the gospel but their language is opposite. I work in a environment where the gospel is not the first on people's mind and when I here how those who are members use the language that they do, I don't know how to respond or approach them. Thank you for your wisdom and encouragement on how to stay true to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I think why we forget is because we have certain routines that get in the way. I've heard rather than making a goal, we should focus on making routines that will stick.

“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.“ -James 1:8 If this doesn’t describe our current society, then, perhaps this other statement, clarifies it even more: “… sitting statusfully about, waiting to be offended.” -Neal A. Maxwell, “ Women of God, GC, 1978 It’s heartbreaking to see what is happening to humanity in these last days. Fortunately, the prophecies we’ve read and understand, at least to some degree, are capable of providing us with the peace and reassurance that God knows all, has planned for all, and has already atoned for all. 💝🙏🏻🤗

I wonder if the verse about looking in the mirror refers to us sometimes seeing our true celestial selves, then we go away, and immediately forget that we are literally children of God. Satan deceives us into believing we are ordinary and this is all there is.

I love your podcasts! I wonder if they might be better received if you eliminated sarcasm from your speech. Not every culture relates to sarcasm in a humorous way. I also worry about people reading the transcript, not hearing your tone. They might be confused as to whether or not you are making a truthful assertion. Refer to time 16:00 for an example.

I think it’s interesting that brother Haws uses social media as a comparison to who we might hold in higher esteem. I think it also works within the church. That sometimes we hold those with specific callings or more visibility in higher esteem. It’s important that we love and hold each and everyone around us with importance, love and esteem on the Internet, in our neighborhood and at church. 🤍
