Had a fabulous time on the grand staircase of the GEM the other day. The museum is going to be extremely impressive Gus, we both have lived in Egypt and travel to the country regularly. I find that many of your tips for travelers are good ones and help to prepare people for what to expect here. Thank you for doing these videos for the visitors coming to Egypt. Something new at the east entrance of pyramids. They are requiring a credit card only to pay admission. Not sure about the main entrance as I never use it. I haven’t seen videos mentioning exchanging currency and the various options for doing so. Bank vs Black Market vs Exchange at ATM. Touching on the subject might be good one. Pros, cons and risks. Thanks for the videos!!! 🎉 Happy new year! 🎉

I guess if you have more time in Cairo and in the Giza plateau. If you plan to spend time visiting the pyramids, surrounding area, camel ride, interior of pyramids etc, it would distract from going to other areas, I would think. So many ppl I talk to have gone to Egypt but didn’t have time to visit Upper Egypt. I encourage doing so. The original museum at Tahrir square is rich in artifacts and worth spending the time. Egyptian food is delicious. I believe that, fast food place has a bit “airport “ feel, they could have done a little better honoring the culture of Egypt as to food. I'd estimate it's less than 5%. None of the galleries are open, just the Grand Staircase, and then five objects on display in the Great Hall. That's it. I would focus on the original Egyptian Museum (Old Museum) in Tahrir Square, and also the NMEC, and then if you have more time, add in the GEM.

The 2020 Pandemic interrupted supply lines, exacerbated production shortages, depleted skilled labour pools, and led to supply-demand inflation spikes all over the world. Egypt’s most ambitious engineering project since the Suez Canal has been no exception.

@@noelleggett5368 I’ve also heard that the metro construction has delayed opening, the conflict now in Gaza, and a few other things. Whatever the delay’s cause, I’m just hoping it opens soon!
@abomoaaz7245
@abomoaaz7245 Жыл бұрын
@@EgyptAdventuresTravelThe reason for the delay is the engineering work for the subway station in front of the museum, as well as the development of the ring road that connects Giza to Greater Cairo. The subway station is working on it with full force. All Egyptian companies are working to finish the line. Soon, perhaps the beginning of next year also, the war in Gaza will delay the opening. How does Egypt celebrate and Israel kills children and women in Gaza? Welcome to Egypt.

Where do you buy the tickets,online or in person at the musseum?
@EgyptAdventuresTravel

You can do both, but I recommend buying them in advance online so you don't need to worry about doing it at the museum, especially if you want to purchase the tickets including the Tutankhamun Immersive Experience, so you can select the time that works best for you (before the tickets for that particular time slot get sold out).

What is the deal with the places not accepting cash now? What If I come from a country that does not give bank accounts to people without work permits etc...
@EgyptAdventuresTravel
@EgyptAdventuresTravel Жыл бұрын
The country is trying to get as much foreign currency as possible, and so they are using credit-cards only at sites so that they can obtain foreign currency electronically. I'm sorry to hear that this will make your visit more difficult! You can always ask a tour company if they will allow you to buy tickets directly from them and pay cash, but this will become more and more difficult as paper tickets are phased out.

0:37 I do not understand anything about the monuments or how to display them, but first of all it is stupid to place statues on stairs. First, it is unsafe when moving them. Second, the public will stand on the stairs in a strange way, which will lead to the person being unbalanced. A very, very bad design.

I think once the thousands of other artifacts and all the other galleries actually open, this area of the museum will be just a small part of the collection, so any of those issues will be mitigated. But I’ve heard a few other people share the same thing. I was just at the museum a few days ago, and the layout didn’t seem to be disruptive and everyone seemed to enjoy experiencing the monuments up close.

Fixed prices? Wow. I never got to Egypt when I worked in the ME but now I’m glad. The horror stories about the museum - although it would have been nice to see the old one - like being extorted for more money to get in to see Tut, turned me off. This looks beautiful. But fixed prices surprises me. I LOATHED every second of every negotiation for 9 years overseas, including the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, and souks in Saudi/Bahrain. Just pick a price and stop torturing me/wasting my time! 😅

Ticket prices are now 1000 EGP for entry (it’s 1200 EGP including the Tut show, which I don’t recommend unless for families with kids ages 4-12). I agree it’s a lot, but I think they’re trying to set ticket prices at a rate where with all the currency issues and devaluations they won’t have to keep raising them. Wait until the full opening and then grab your tickets to see everything 💪🏼

I guess I’m obsessed with the shops because for so long, gift shops in Egypt have been focused on made-in-China trinkets, and we finally are seeing Egyptian artisans and local design collectives (like Cairopolitan) take center stage, which I love! At this point, this video is an accurate representation of what is currently on display at the GEM. There is no tour aside from what you see in the video, because at this point, a very limited amount of areas are open. Looking forward to doing a longer video more focused on the exhibits, once more areas are opened up. Thank you for watching and for commenting 😊
