Yes, they will be available in the USA by the end of this year or early next year, all SMX basses have a push/pull to bypass the preamp.

yeah its my issue with the sadowsky preamp, and the fact that its boost only is also an issue, especially on the metroexpress that doesn't have tone control. you have no way to directly tame those high frequency ( also even flat, the preamp boost the treble a bit and it can be unwanted in a lot of situation ). i'm considering buying one, pay 100 buck to add a the vtc tone control and only play it in passiv. or maybe buy a delano sonar or bartolini preamp and switch the preamp. ( the only issue is that i would have to drill a new hole, or perhaps find a preamp that has a stack volume/tone - blend - mid - stack bass/treble config to only use the 4 hole. but honestly considering that its 3 time cheaper than the metroline serie, it can be worse it. i'm pretty sure that with a boost in the 400-500hz range, you can get pretty close to a ken smith and that my main reason to considered that basse.

The Metro Express basses are made in China.
