Thomas, thanks for sharing. I was out of town so I did not go to the show. However, I find that most of this gear is overblown and in many cases you end up with HQTV type unnaturalness, but for music. I am only interested in the music, not constantly worrying if it’s the best sound ever. The music is what drives me, how it makes me feel. Yes, I also get that I need good equipment (regardless of who is making it) to truly appreciate the music. I have four systems in my house, all of which I am satisfied with, regarding sound quality. Each having a different sound signature which, leaves me in the music’s embrace. That does not mean that I am not interested in hearing the new, constantly changing stuff that the industry has on offer. I can admit that I love hifi equipment, ever since I was a boy, thanks to my father. But there is a limit and common sense has to step in at some point. Having said that, I like watching your reviews. I watch Huff’s reviews some times, I feel for him and I mostly like what he does. However, what a restless soul, constantly changing gear. Thank you again, Thomas. Great stuff.

Thanks for the video. The Toronto show looks like a very High End Audio show, just like the Pacific Audio Festival. I have been to Axpona twice and to the RMAF once in 2019 (their last year); the RMAF was the best show I have ever been to. The RMAF had a very good balance of expensive High End Audio and the more moderately priced audio set ups that most people can afford.

Great to see your item about the Elipson speakers - these were my first proper Hifi speakers late 80s. Their soundstage is special - sound is free from the box. Because of the shape you don’t have the standing waves. Mine also had the Helmholtz resonator, so they went down quite deep in a controlled fashion. My next speakers were the Elipson 1303 with more body and with Foster tweeters more resolution in the high frequencies - fond memories! Thank you, Thomas:-)

Those ELACs in the tiny Altitudo room were something else. They revealed everything and didn't make your ears bleed. And the bass was tight and not at all overpowering even with the room's tiny size. Didn't get a chance to play with the trick switchable rings though.

The Elac is a little curious in construction. Not ideal at all, some major backsteps in acoustic design. Maybe not this bad at all but a bit of a mixed pack. Speakers (in every pricerange) never should make your ears bleed :)

Thomas, I am pretty sure Fyne is pronounced like the word "fine", not "fin". Also, your guess re the two integrated Canor amps was correct. They have an interesting feature/connection that allows them each to be used for just one channel. According to Pursuit Perfect System, using this way exponentially improves the performance (i.e., 1 + 1 = 4).

Thomas , you shud visit a proper Chinese audio show and explore the affordable chi fi that is new/available since they have so many brands that are now world class from amps , DACs , cd transports , DDC , linear power supplies , speakers etc. That would be something interesting and affordable lol. Not many ppl can afford gear in the Cad4-10k range , more like 0.4 - 3k range, ofc there will be 4-10k too but that’s normally flagship gear.

The Elipson room was intriguing, the way you where describing it, was similar to my Tuner with Radio-Can/CBC, I cannot describe the sound, but for some reason I can listen at lower DB than my turntable and DAC, but it sounds just as loud, when a tune is playing that has sound that move horizontally it moves even more with my tuner, it's so musical, if I could chose my music I would mostly listen to my tuner. But only with Radio-Can and CBC, commercial music station dont sound as good. Dont get me wrong my analogue rig sounds very good, but it does not have that coloration that I love about my tuner and like the Elipson comment it's hard to describe, I cant even put a finger on it myself. Drives me crazy, I would love to find a source that sounds like my tuner.

The two Canor Integrated amps - one uses tube amplification the other is class A solid state. Some people wanted to hear both kinds of amplification with the Fyne Audio Vintage 15. Also, some clients do not want tubes because of the possibility of maintenance in the future so Canor in Slovakia makes both.
