New Tiny Boat Project Part III: Starting the deck and floor

Just bought one today and brought it home. My brain is overloaded with ideas, this is great. Got a sheet of plywood in the same trip. For me and my 8yo daughter. I’m not too handy but I’m willing to give it a shot.

Great video. Thanks for the walkthrough on how you started this project. I’m looking to do this on mine. I was looking at plywood deck but aluminum angle iron for supports under. Planning a possible hatch or just drawer(s) to pull out underneath for mine.

can you do a update on how you installed your trolling motor, because i plan on doing plywood on front too. But im not sure how im going to install my bow mount trolling motor and i want it about at a angle like you said you where going to do yours. thanks!!!

I did the same thing. Built the same size deck, same exact trolling motor. I do have a few extras in the front like a storage compartment built into the deck. I noticed though, that when I’m on the deck using the trolling motor it weighs the front down too much. So if you’re not putting an outboard on the back, you might have to put more weight in the back some how to even it out. Looks good so far though!

Thanks Dan! Yeah you’re absolutely right about the weight up front. I’ll be adding an outboard eventually but I think until I do that I will put a bag of concrete in the back to offset that bow weight. Hopefully that will take care of that. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍

Thanks for watching and the question. Sorry it’s taken me a little bit to get back to you. So, the front deck is 44 inches deep (front to back). The width at its widest just really depends on where you start it and it gradually gets narrower as you go towards the front. You can obviously go as far back as you want but I wanted a little floor room and to be honest it could have been a little shorter than 44 inches. It still fishes really good and stable. I may be fishing tomorrow and if I do I’ll take the exact width measurement for you and comment back here. Thanks again!

Awesome video, I know I’m a little late on the comment, but I had a couple questions for ya. 1. What are the measurements for the floor? 2. Where did ya get that carpet from? I plan on buying this exact boat at BPS this summer, I want to use your design idea for the flooring and possibly the piece that covers the battery. Thank you brother so much for the kind words. To be honest I can’t remember the dimensions of the floor but whatever the width was I allowed 1/4” on both sides to allow my carpet tuck to go in. That holds the floor piece down really good. I just bought inexpensive indoor/outdoor carpet at Lowes. Hope this helps brother! Tight lines!!

Thanks for watching! It is 3/4” treated plywood and I have a support underneath the front casting deck. The next video after this one I believe is where I do the carpeting and it shows the support. It does not flex at all. Thanks again!

@@bassin9114 Okay great. Thanks for the info. I'm looking at getting one for fishing back in the creeks and small rivers. I was thinking about a yak. But I like this option much better. Especially with a 3.5 hp.

If you can find an old aluminum sign in that would be awesome. It'll never rot like wood will eventually
