I have hundreds upon hundreds of hours into Ark between PS4, Epic, and Steam versions, and I still have a hard time remembering which tool gets more meat/hide without looking at the tool tips. Even as the "expert" that I am (as a solo player anyway), I still like to watch these videos of yours just to see what I'm doing wrong/different and what I could do more efficiently, as well as the fact that it's always good to review the basics every now and then.

@@hazzamatazza I haven't attempted a boss fight other than the Ragnarok one since the Island was the only free map; also, my brother and I only beat the overseer by cheating, and that was because you had to beat him to unlock the other free maps on PS4... So I'm technically in the same boat...

​@@ShawnF6FHellcatIm almost 60 and I started with the PONG game when I was like 10 years old. Never stopped gaming after that. Ark is a bit of a challenge just because of the random stupid glitches, like a dino just falls through the mesh and disappears. Crappy programming is the biggest challenge in this game. But I love it cause, DINOS!! LOL

@@aircobraman1375 The bugginess is definitely a pain in the ass, but it's a fantastic game when it works and people aren't being glitch-abusing assholes. I like Ark because I'm free to do whatever I want however I want: make my own strategies, go my own pace, play with or without dinos, etc... Usually I build a warship as my base, and my playstyle is more like spec-ops in that I always wear ghillie and do sneaky assassin things with precise strategies, instead of the average player's full-assault tendencies.

Here is a tip that really helped me: NB: This tip is not the be-all-end-all when it comes to helping beginners. I strongly advise combining this tip with the tips mentioned in this vid, as well as pterafier’s previous survival handbook series. Like mentioned in the video, don’t start in the island. In fact, avoid starting on any of the story arks. Instead start on a custom ark, ragnarok being my most recommended option, as it is easiest to start on in my opinion, and has a wide array of the most powerful mid game creatures in the game, wyverns most importantly. Get to late mid game on ragnarok (or up to any moment when you can tame wyverns and rexes, or any other powerful mid game creatures. This is why I say combine this advice with pterafier’s other advice, as you will need to get to mid game to continue with the rest of this advice. After you have a decent repertoire of mid game creatures like argies, rexes or wyverns, then I advise you to start on other maps. You can now transfer some of your creatures to other maps you want to start on, giving you a massive head start. I’ve used this method on any new map I want to play on, so believe me when I say: having a wyvern or argy right from the get-go can prove to be a massive help, as it’ll help with protecting you from hostiles, transport you around the map, as well as aiding in taming new dinosaurs like dodecs, ankies, or trikes.

To be honest, my struggle with ark is command codes. That sounds weird but for some reason, I can't not cheat for some reason. The only thing I want is a way to disable them. People might say, "Just don't cheat" for me, I can't. So on ps5, any way you can disable cheats?
