I just bought my first MacBook yesterday and I watched several KZbin videos from various creators before I found yours. You are the only one that I subscribed to. Your video was full of information and it was delivered in a concise, easy to understand way. Thank you! I’ve already learned a lot thanks to you.

Thanks for another great video. I've just recently bit the bullet & bought a Mac Studio to replace my desktop pc. Silly my, I thought that because I'm quite 'fluent' in the iPad & iPhone world, the Mac Studio would come naturally. NOT SO. I intend to come back here ... often. I've been a subscriber for MANY years. Thanks again...

12:55 If you opt to share Siri audio recordings, you might want to disable "Listen for hey Siri," so that Siri doesn't get inadvertently engaged if you're having a conversation with another person, as that audio could then potentially be heard and retained by Apple or a third-party contractor as part of Siri analytics. Also, 13:35 in my experience, particularly on modern Macs whose processors are better optimized for encryption, I've not noticed a significant performance penalty with FileVault turned on. The reason I'd recommend keeping it on, particularly on a laptop, is that if the computer was misplaced and someone gained physical possession of it, they could reset the login password or possibly use other methods as a backdoor into your data.

Hey David, thanks for making these videos. I have watched you on and off for over a decade now. After the upcoming 15" MacBook Air is released, I plan on finally taking the dive and picking one up. Probably not for a good 6-9 months from now though. I love these tutorials though because it really is kinda scary going to MacOS when you have been a lifetime Windows user. I'll always have a Windows laptop but it's time for me to finally pick up a Mac! Thanks again my friend!

Thank you very much David. I just found your channel and I am a new MAC user. A couple of my nephews talked me into purchasing a MAC and I have been using PC’s since 1978, so I am going to be using your videos to help me get started. My nephews didn’t tell me about your channel so I don’t know if they know about it but they have been MAC users for over 20 years. I look forward to getting started and will definitely need help in transferring files from my PC to the MAC. I also unfortunately purchased the Apple Microsoft Office 365 software already, but will remember not to renew it next year and hope that your cost saving offer is still available for the Microsoft Office software.

Great content, a nice refresher after a break of more than 20 years without Mac (I was a user when it was not cool). However I'd mention than the thing about drivers for printers on PC is not really a thing: Windows has very good generic drivers.

Great video, David. I found buying my new 2021 iMac was unemotional and I felt like I was buying an expensive latte instead of a sexy-powerful computer. There is never any manual and they just hope you don't ask questions. I have gone into the Apple store several times to get my issues fixed and I find no one knows the answers. Thanks for the tips. ...you did a good job! - ...I'm trying to "study up" on Ventura as much as I can and I didn't like it (Ventura) at all first....everything seemed way too "secret", I really liked SnowLeopard (still using it) and found El Capitan very annoying (and sometimes "dangerous" - it WAS possible to cause real damage even with PreView, due to the "new" way of functioning, but I never suffered an actual loss...) - I have been a Mac user since system 6 and later system 7...system 7 was good, looked nice, was stable, it was a good time...the Mac was about "intuitive" and user friendly...and essentially, it was impossible to "destroy" or cause catastrophic loss...that changed with OSX....now it wasn't totally "safe" anymore....anyway...your video was very good and helpful.. : )

Just a remark. Yesterday I changed my settings on my Macbook M1 in System Settings>Appearance>Accent Color and changed the 2nd color blue into the first multicolor. That was the reason that Command C and Command V (Copy and Paste) did not work anymore with the shortcuts anymore. It costs me a lot of time to find out why this happened. And finally I changed the Accent color back to blue and voila the problem was solved.

Around 3:25 you expressed your personal preference for how you want to view items in a Finder Window (you prefer icon view) - but this video would have been a little more useful if you mentioned that each view (Icon, list, column and gallery) each has it's own unique advantages in the view.

The only thing I would say is, get applecare if you know you will need it, or you have a history of being clumsy. Quite a lot of people I have seen paid the extra for no reason, apple products mostly outlast the applecare imo from non aggressive usage.

I can't speak for Apple since I don't work for them, but I can tell you I've had an iCloud account for demo purposes for years. The only company that has that email address is Apple. I've literally NEVER in years of owning that account ever received a piece of junk mail. So from my observations, I think compared to everyone else, they're in the "angel" department. That being said, technically it depends on what country you live in since each country has different privacy laws. The one liner I've come to say more than any other at this point is "privacy is an emotion."

Eeeee. FileVault should ALWAYS be ON. Otherwise anyone with physical access to your computer can easily change your precious password to whatever they like and access EVERYTHING on your Mac and your iCloud storage. Photos, email, documents and all your stored iCloud passwords for all services you use. Turning FileVault or Firewall OFF is a HUGE NO for anyone! As long as you store your data in iCloud, if you should loose access to your computer, or if most or stolen, you have kept everything safe and secure. The thief can not access your data even though the hardware is lost.
