It's wonderful that you care and share! I sit on the board of an agency that helps to lift people out of poverty. The gifts of food and cash that are donated all year round help families more than we know. There is a Little Library in our front yard and I have left a note there for anyone who is food insufficient or just hungry to come to the door and we'll see how we might help them fill a need. God bless you, dear Frugal Minimalist. You, yourself are a gift.

This was so touching, I grew up with a lot of lack but a lot of love. My dad always told us to be thankful and grateful all year long, having good health, a loving family and a roof over your head was a blessing - which it truly is. Tragically he passed away some years ago on Christmas but I never forgot about being thankful and grateful. I too go thru and give to those in need. Recently I was on the receiving end because I lost my home but I live in an apartment now and have a place for my children to come home from college for the holiday break. This was an excellent video. Take care!

I’m so touched by your story thank you for sharing. Your dad’s message is so wise those are absolutely what we need beyond the “four walls”. They’ll boost quality of life no matter the kind of house we live in, car we drive, etc. What a blessing for you to be able to perpetuate your dad’s message to your children. Kids need to hear this message for sure!! Blessings to you and yours 💕💪

I became a minimalist this way. I started in my kitchen. One drawer and one cabinet at a time. Then one closet at a time. This took me several weeks and the Veterans were picking up at my door for weeks. Now my home looks so calm and simple. I just de cluttered my last stash. My coats. I love them and had about two dozen. My church was doing a coat drive for homeless and I finally parted with most of my beloved coats. It was hard but I did it.

I just did a declutter also, I used Greendrop for my donations because they do a pick up. And I also gave a friend who is a social worker a bunch of clothing to put in the bin that they have at her office for the homeless. Mostly sweaters with a hole or snags and a few well worn jackets and shoes. I know the donation stores won't take these items but they will help someone in need still. Even items that are worn out can still be used.
@TheFrugalMinimalist4 жыл бұрын
Alright! 🙌 Yes they can be used! I believe thrift stores that do take them will sell them to be recycled into insulation.

Excellent video Wendy! I need to continue to declutter too. My lifestyle has changed so much over the past 5 years that it's a necessity and passing still good items on to someone else who needs it, feels great. Win win! I agree, Marie Kondo's method is way too time consuming and over whelming for me. I want to give up before I even get started. A little at a time is my way of choice. Thanks for taking us along on your declutter journey. It was very relaxing 😊
@TheFrugalMinimalist4 жыл бұрын
I’ll bet Ellen! 🙌 It makes it easier to let go of the items when we know others can use them. I hear you on wanting to give up before you start! It’s a lot to take in all at once. 😅

Thank you for another great video. We are all very much blessed. And I agree...if we all donate a little, every single one of us, there will be many that can gratefully benefit from it. I remember the one game my father ever bought us was Monopoly. But when we were a lot younger the only game we owned was the original fishing game and the reason we had it was because Santa Clause was to be there and we had to stand in a long line of children and it was only one present per family. There were 3 of us. When we opened it, we were just so excited and had so much fun!😌 There were a few tough years, but we always made the best of it. We even learned to not ask for anything because we knew our circumstances. It also was something we just never brought up. Thank you again for the reminder. God bless....and have an Happy Thanksgiving🦃

I agree that the Holidays are the perfect time to declutter and donate to others! Knowing that we can help to make someone's Holiday a little brighter makes it that much easier to donate something maybe we have been having a hard time letting go of but don't need. I love that you son came up with things to donate too! He is clearly learning to have a giving heart from the examples he is getting at home! Great video as always Wendy! When my son was young I would explain that he could be Santa to other children that have less by giving away his good condition toys he no longer played with. Older towels and bedding that might not be quality enough to donate to people can often be donated to animal shelters also. Full watch, big like my sweet friend! \🥰/

We kept everything we could, but found a family that needed the clothes and items and passed it on to them.
