I grew up on a farm. When neighbours around the road retired, they established an acre of roses next to their house on the dairy farm. Well for the next twenty years any celebration in the district got given roses, including me for my wedding.. if you drove past and they were in the garden, you were waved down and given a few blooms. What a marvellous hobby to take up later in life!!

Love your channel. Been watching for a long time. I do garment sewing and I’m always looking for hints etc. to make things easier. I pray God continues to bless you and Jerry with good health. I’m recovering from TKR. It was done in B’ham at the Andrews Clinic. I always try to find the best Dr on the planet and go from there. Take care.

Hi Joy I can now see exactly why your top looked big on you, it wasn't big it just looked big because of the pleat at the yoke and because the fabric does not drape. Anyways love your new blue floral top. It fits you perfectly and yes I agree with you ,the shorter version looks better on you. Now let me continue watching your video which I really enjoy watching while I'm working on my alterations .Good day and God bless you dearest Joy. Btw those metal thingies are table cloth holders. I have been watching you and doing basic sewing for several years. I have been on the road traveling a lot since retiring in 2020 But plan on staying home here in Amarillo more with my dear sewing machine. In high school I took advanced sewing classes, and went all the way through the offerings. In the end I was making tailored suits for both men and women. Even the old style horse hair that you would shape so that the lapels would hang correctly. French bound hand done buttonholes, the entire thing. But now, I find I have forgotten soooo much! I guess if you don’t use it you lose it. I have been simply trying to get a better fit on some tops and slacks. I have a lot of the sure fit designs patterns. Would really like to feel more comfortable trying to use it. I think, or at least hope, ….lol….that as I do more and more. My memories will be refreshed. So I will be watching and learning from you a bit more intently now that I have all this time.

I have to agree about our stubborn bellies. I have lost weight, too, and my belly is unchanged! We do bellies better in our 70s :-) A matching top and bottom is called a co-ord set and is trendy! I love all your tops, especially with the geese. No, almond milk is not dairy. Your lips do not look black on my screen lol.

I too have used the Dritz {or maybe it's June Tailor} press cloth for years. They are nice. What you have there appears to be a cotton organza, because it is so light and see thru. The ones I've gotten from Dritz {or June Tailor} have appeared a bit thicker, but still see thru enough. My favorite is a silk organza press cloth that I bought at a sewing conference some years back. It's cream/tan colored. They also last forever. I would not recommend serging the edges as it will create a bump on your project when you're ironing. They really don't ravel much. Or, just create a stitching near the edge to control if anything does ravel, but wouldn't add thickness. Or could pink the edge. I don't bother. I think your matching top and pedal pusher pants are really cute. It will look great together. Love the fabric too. I think the technician somehow screwed up your machine, sadly. Is there another dealer you can go to? Persevere with trying to get it fixed, and the associated frustrations, or bite the bullet and trade it in. The Luminaire that Becky, of Power Tools with Thread, uses does appear awesome. Those metal things look like what you use to hold tablecloth down on picnic table, so doesn't blow away. The long flat side is on top of table and the other goes underside.

Hey Joy! I have that fabric your blouse is made of! Love your blouse and the buttons. ADORABLE I never lose my tummy either haha. My unsolicited opinion is I agree with you on the length of your blouse 100% I have a short torso kind of like that and a blouse like that looks so much more flattering the way you altered it❤️ I do think though that you could take a little tuck/ maybe a back dart at your waist just my quick genius on what is giving you a thinner silhouette. Not a lot but show your waist just a bit more. You have lost weight haven’t you? You look fab Joy! I miss corresponding - hope you have a fun summer planned. Mary

I love the fit of those white pants Joy. Love the extra long video today . Takes my mind off my daughters cancer. Not sure if I told you she has Ovarian cancer and had massive surgery. It seems like to have cancer you need super strength to be able to endure the mountain of appointments she has to go through for the chemotherapy. May 3rd willl be the 3rd of six treatments baring her blood count is better because today it was to low in order to have the chemo. So they gave her a shot to help her cells speed up regeneration of the white blood count. I was wondering if you ever tried any of Nancy Zeimans sewing methods. I purchased her book to try because it seems like a good way to fit commercial patterns. We shall see.

Allergies: I’ve had allergies my whole life. (I was the only child I knew in public school that HAD to have tissues with her EVERY day.) In 2019 my doctor put me on the Walsh protocol. One of the supplements I was put on was molybdenum. I’ve been on it ever since, and now I am not on any allergy medicines. I still have to blow my nose occasionally, but the only time I have “problems” with a constant “drip” is if I am in a VERY dusty area or around another major allergen (i.e. cats).
