It's very interesting that in the US, the midwest section of the country, (the bread basket), grew up with family farms. There was no great need to travel with their tractors, they farmed their part of the square mile section. Where OLF is, in New Jersey, the fields are scattered like yours seem to be. New Jersey is called the Garden State, for that very reason. I bet if JCS provides support in New Jersey, OLF may consider buying a Fastrac. I wonder what percentage of road travel goes into the decision to buy a tractor where Georges is?

I would say a considerable amount of the workload for modern tractors is transport. This is part movement of harvested crop, since the advent of biofuel production, bulk crop movement has increased a lot and which come off often moist fields that could not support a road truck. The other part of the equation is the change from farmer owned equipment to the use of contractors, so now there are logistical challenges for the equipment itself, since they operate from their site to clients within an often considerable travel range. As an aside, these days they will be farming more than a section or have sold up/got themselves another career and farm on the weekends, since they have to keep growing or go bust. I am a Dutchman that lives in the UK. I am familiar with 1 mile by 1 mile section as I worked on a Minnesota crop farm for almost a year many moons ago late 80s

The fast tracs are made to be able to keep up with road traffic more than a normal tractor. So yes they are faster.

Always I liked that model for the design and practicality, but design don´t pull the plough. I asked our servisman how is it with the reliability. 7230 & 7270 is more defective than 8250 8280 & 8310. He told me too, that when you will care for that, it's going to be all right. "It´s a hybrid model between old 3230 & old 8250" =) peace..=)
