Mine did tint to level 2 in my car. It was a very sunny day. I noticed from new they darken more in my car after a week of use.

Ordered some Versace frames with the lenses tricked out including XtraActive polarized transition capability. Can't wait until they get here.

I would like to see someone put an lcd phone screen right up to it
@sportsoptical57463 жыл бұрын
Though specific screens will vary in visibility with polarized lenses, generally speaking most modern phone screens are pretty visible from just about any orientation with polarized sunglasses, though the colors might be a bit distorted and "rainbowy". The mobile phone industry has realized that lots of people use their phones while wearing polarized sunglasses.

@@jesscorbin5981 no a phone screen won't cause them to tint, ultraviolet light from the sun triggers the tinting and polarization

I was wondering if they work for fishing ? Seems like they would be the best for fishing since they adjust darkening depending on how intense the sunlight is whether it be winter , summer , full sun , or overcast with clouds . Seems like polarized sunglasses only work for me spotting fish if I have full sun but it could be that I have a slight vision loss and the sunglasses I use aren't prescription ; Thanks for video though ?
@sportsoptical57462 жыл бұрын
Polarized lenses are preferred by many, especially fishermen. The polarization cuts the glare off of the water.

does it work with many frame types? ANSI Z87.1 compliant?
@sportsoptical57463 жыл бұрын
Yes we can make these with impact resistant ANSI z87 compliant lenses for just about any frame that is ANSI z87 compliant.

Can you confirm that it does in fact take 5 minutes to go from full dark to clear? If that's the case, that is quite amazing.
@sportsoptical57463 жыл бұрын
That's correct! Transitions lenses have improved quite a bit in recent years.
@sportsoptical57463 жыл бұрын
Edit. We did a side by side test with one lens undarkened and the other fully darkened in natural sunlight and timed the change from max dark back to clear indoors with ambient light from indoor lights and some skylights, but not of any direct sunlight from windows which is a typical indoor lighting situation. In 5 min the dark lens gets about 80% of the way back to it's clearest state. It took about 12 min to say it was fully back to its clearest state like the non-transitioned lens.
@richard-mai3 жыл бұрын
@@sportsoptical5746 thanks for taking the time to do the test! 12 minutes is still a big improvements in my eyes (pun intended) considering the old Vantages took longer than 25 minutes! www.firstvieweyecare.com/archives/1736

@@richard-mai You're welcome. Gotcha. We found the Transitions Vantage to be lacking in polarization and not sufficiently do the job of a polarized lens, but these new XtrActive Polarized do!

@@sportsoptical5746 How thick are they? I need a high index lense as I'm very nearsighted. Also, do they come in lined bifocals? I'm a little hesitant of progressive lenses (no line bifocal) because of the blind spots they have.
@sportsoptical57463 жыл бұрын
@@nancyjustnancy Depending on your prescription, they can be pretty thick. We use polycarbonate lenses in our sport frames due to the curvature of the frame (polycarbonate is strong, and light-weight enough to handle said curvature). @@sportsoptical5746 Which gets darker in the car, XTRActive or XTRActive Polarized? Thanks!
@sportsoptical57462 жыл бұрын
@@brocklanders6969 Hi Dirk, they become approximately the same darkness in the car. The main difference between the two is: one is polarized when they transition, and the other is not. The Xtra Active Polarized seems darker due the polarization, but they block about the same amount of light. Have a wonderful day!
