New trick to the ned rig that you must try! By trying an off color ned rig head we were able to put some huge smallmouth bass in the boat in less than an hour! The ned rig is a very effective way to fish and it has caught a lot of bass for me over the years but by changing the color of the head and getting away from standard colors I feel we caught some much bigger fish using it. I tried the Zman red Finesse Shroomz head and Eric used the Zman chartreuse Finesse Shroomz. This heads have a great hook and fit perfect with the Zman TRD's. We both used the ZMan TRD in Green Pumkin. As good as a ned rig is I think sometimes trying something outside the norm can really work and it looks like by changing heads the fish reacted a bit different to the bait. We certainly saw more fish follow our ned rigs up to the boat. I plan on experimenting more with different color ned heads in the future and I am sure they all have a time and place! I encourage you to try some things outside the norm and perhaps you will be pleasantly surprised!

I'm a very firm believer in "colored attractants" for all species of fish. I perch fish regularly, and know that a chartreuse bead placed just to the head of a hook makes all the world of difference. It gives the fish a reference point to the bait. Same difference in all types of fishing. Why have spinner blades before baits? ... It adds flash and color. Simple enough... add some color folks! I even add colored bullet weights when Texas rigging my Senkos... I am a firm believer... you'd have to prove me wrong some how.

There's a great video by the man himself on the 5 different Ned retrieves. For us it was a simple cast, let the Ned sink and crawl the bait along the bottom while imparting a gentle shaking action. You can stop the bait if you contact cover and shake it in place but you increase the chance of a snag. Another great technique is to lift the rod tip reel up the slack and let the bait glide down and repeat. It's such a simple bait to fish!

I think contrast draws fish more than the actual color. When fishing trout I use what I call “ Ronald McDonald’s outfit” and a red and chartreuse power egg and catch more than anyone else around me, yellow and black make the bait noticable

I think you need to get out there on "the juice" with some unpainted heads and compare them against the chartreuse, red, green pumpkin, and black heads to really see if the head color makes a substantial difference when using the same color plastic bait.....it's the only way to really know.....just my $.02! Seems like the chartreuse and red heads held their own against each other.... Using an unpainted head might be a way to really tell if it matters.... Just thinking that the unpainted head will pretty much blend into the water...although the green pumpkin and black might do the same.... This could become a never-ending test if you start changing the plastics color......hahaha

Here in Cali in the clear water the smallies and spots like the bright colored lures. It's opposite of what you think. Hot pink, chartreuse, hot purple, and many others they tell you what they want. Fish decide and NOT you believe dat.

Sometimes you have to let them eat it a few seconds after feeling the bite. Every day is different. Once you feel that fish pick it up, try waiting just a few seconds before giving it to them. That might help.

Some of the head's come with small hooks. Adjust your hookset if your bending the hook. I've had same problems

Was sure if you knew or not, but you are publishing content at 60fps. A lot of people cant watch 60fps content without knocking the streaming quality down to 720. If you upload in 1080p 30fps then you will have a better looking video for the majority of people watching. The way your content is shot and edited, 60fps does nothing to benefit your video.
