I was finally able to put together this video that I have been promising for a long time. The Ned Rig is an amazing little simple fishing rig that will catch more fish. Simple by design but very effective. It has saved a lot of days for tough fishing for me. It not only catch bass but as I write this I'm sitting on the shores of the Niagara River and just today me and the guys in my boat all boated 28+ inch Walleye using the Ned Rig. In my opinion ZMan makes the best componants for the Ned Rig. The last a long time and the Shroomz Head has great hooks and lure keeper.

Gene. Thanks for all of the videos you put up. You have taught me a lot about bass fishing. Growing up (I'm 34) with no dad my Grandma would take me bullhead fishing and that is all I knew. Your channel has been instrumental in me learning how to bass fish. I take what I learn from you and others and teach it to my 4 year old. I just want you to know your videos make a difference even if you don't know it.

Fishing has been tough in NJ. I was almost ready to pack it in when a little fluke master dropped into my brain and told me to use the Ned rig--- 5 bass later turned a bad day into gold. Keep doing what you are doing. I learn so much!

I don't know if you remember but last week I asked you when to set the hook on frogs after I missed all of mine and couldn't hook up with my first frog fish. you told me count to 3. when the weekend came around I just fished the frog non stop and I caught some which made me happy. but I had a five pounder come up and miss my frog as much as I wanted to set the hook I watched and waited she came back I counted to three and the fight was on. thank you for all that you do. you really help me with all my fishing. I'm glad I found your channel I've been a viewer for years. thanks keep doing what you do.

This is my go to!!!! I love this rig!!! I have got my PB on this at 8 lb 7 ounces. I showed this rig to my buddy which is our local high school fishing coach. They won their tournament last week with this!!! You did not cover the hook set!!! Light wire hook. For me I just reel in and lift the rod straight up seems to work great! You are doing a great job love the videos. Thank you!!!!

Here in Colorado this is a popular rig. Last year probably 2/3 of the tournament payouts were on the ned rig. I've never noticed a time when it was any better than just a texas rigged senko. One tournament I fished at Lake McConaughy in Nebraska, my boater was catching them on the Ned rig, and I didn't have any ned rig stuff, so I threw a 3/16oz weight and 4" senko. Then ran out of 4" so I stepped up to 5" and caught more and bigger fish.

I use the pbj color and the goby.. I fish it like a Texas rig, I drag it, and sometimes I'll even use the slightly heavier mushroom jig head (not the heaviest one) and actually shake it on a slack line like you would a shaky head. Sure catches them numbers

Maybe iam not quite getting the advantage over a 3 inch stick bait.If the main way it's fished is gliding it what does it matter if it floats.Only if its dead sticker I can see it.And it looks like a snag machine compared to a Texas stilko.plus the still gets hit a lot on the slow fall.Just asking,thanks Dave

Just got my new ultra finesse rod from my sponsor gonna throw a ned rig on it. Only question in South Georgia its real weedy. I know zman makes weedless mushroom jigs. Gene, you mentioned it falls in a semi-circle. Have you noticed any line twists as a result of this?
@theunluckyfisherman4845
@theunluckyfisherman4845 8 жыл бұрын
If you're using spinning gear you're bound to get line twist. If you're using braid just use a swivel to your fluoro leader instead of a line2line knot. Every 20 or so casts just dangle your rod (har har) over the boat and let the line untwist a bit. Also, engaging your bail by hand helps reduce some twist aswell, as opposed to reeling down and forcing it to engage.
