Boeing is facing fresh allegations from a current employee, and, thus, whistleblower that it has long held a disregard for parts that should be disregarded, and this could've resulted in them being installed on 737 jets. Meanwhile, outgoing CEO Dave Calhoun was grilled in front of a hearing as inqurieis into the planemaker continue.

Until these big companies start delivering to their customers a value for money product nothing will change. It’s about time these companies realise that their business model needs to be for their customers and those using their products, rather than cowtowing to their share holders. They must reinvent themselves to honouring the end user and the safety of those people. This is a common trait at present where companies think more of their investors than they do for the people who use the product. They need to remember that without customers they won’t have anything to give their shareholders!!

Boeing also needs to treat its suppliers better. Post its absorption of McDonnell Douglas and its bean counters, Boeing has had a nasty habit of "renegotiating" with suppliers. This, after the suppliers make capital investments at Boeing's request, and commit to Boeing. Rather slimy. That said, as a former airline pilot and present aviation fan .... I'm rooting for Boeing, and am optimistic that the call to improve its QC and business practices will take hold.

I was a safety focal 9n the 777 Final Body Join and Final Assembly areas. We had a safety meeting with the senior managers, where we were asked if we would shut down production if a safety issue was raised. I was the only one who stated that I would not hesitate to "push the stop button ". You should have seen the look of horror on their faces. I informed them that due to my 10 years in the Navy, nothing came before safety. I don't recall any other meetings after that one. Guess I scared the crap out of them with my bluntness.

Right. Calhoun had nothing to do with the MCAS tragedy, but it sure seems he’s done nothing meaningful to change the culture at Boeing since. And now, we ride in a 60 year old design with the MAX (but a least they’re sloppily built!)
@jaym8257
@jaym8257 3 ай бұрын
@@mijnordna What is different about a modern design? Leap engines are new technology. The control surfaces on a plane are a little different than the Wright Flyer. But I see a little Wright Flyer in every plane. And now in all planes we have fuselage with seats, cockpit for controls, wings with engines slung underneath, a vertical and horizontal stabilizer with some additional control surfaces. And then a bunch of state of the art electronics in the cockpit. Radar in front. What in the hell else do you want? A MAX flies at greater than 520 miles per hour just like a Neo. In other words your comment about a sixty year old design holds no water. I'd say all plane manufacturers have copied that 60/70 year old plan. Even an Airbus 321 Neo looks quite similar to a Boeing 737 or 757 or 767 or 787. Embraer, the list goes on.
@rtbrtb_dutchy4183
@rtbrtb_dutchy4183 3 ай бұрын
@@jaym8257the 737 was designed as an analog aircraft. We now live in the digital world. The A320, even though it’s old, was designed as a digital airplane. The 737NG and Max are still analog airplanes, but pretend to work in a digital age and it doesn’t work. I am type rated in the 737 and the a320. The 737 is a joke. The cockpit still has rocker switches. The cockpit really hasn’t changed much since the -200. To start the engine on the 737, you have to: turn on fuel pumps, turn on hydraulics, divert bleed air from the cabin to the engines, hit the starter and once the engine spins to a certain rpm by the bleed air, you add fuel with a lever. We are talking about around a dozen switches. The A320 is 2 switches and no need to monitor much. And that’s just engine start. If the max had fly by wire, and MCAS would not have been needed and 2 airplanes would not have crashed.

I watched the senate hearings and they were shocking. Calhoun got a 42% pay raise, while the workers got a 1 percent raise over eight years. Yet he says the company has not made money recently, and he didn't deny any allegation brought up in the hearings. Personally I think Boeing needs to totally shut down, regroup with new management and start over. I will say thank god for Airbus and their quality aircraft or the airline industry would have nothing.

@@miguelmonteiro7942I am not. But hiding these defective parts from FAA inspectors is “suspicious” or at least I don’t understand. The FAA has access to other government agencies which has or get intelligence with regard to malicious intent or simply fraud.

If I was in charge at Boeing I would abandon trying to certify the 737 Max 7 and 10 and just sell the 8 and 9. Put it all on the line and come up with a new clean sheet single isle to replace the 737 and 757, same sausage different lengths. I would also invite my long time 737/757 customers for input from day one to make sure all of their concerns are addressed from the initial design. I would also move on from the 7 series naming and call it the 808, in honor of how the 707 made Boeing a juggernaut when they were in last place for commercial airliners. If Boeing came up with an all new 737/757 equivalent with a max range of the old 767 and efficiency of the A330 NEO they would make a massive comeback. I could see airlines like Southwest, Ryan Air and even Delta and United lining up to buy it.

I hope Boeing's top executives and shareholders see this, and I encourage everyone watching DJ's videos to share it. What I'm about to say will upset many, and it's directed at Boeing: You need to get your act together. This is embarrassing. You were once the top airplane maker in the world, representing American innovation and prowess. But with the 737 Max crisis and your Starship failures, you’ve become a laughing stock. Boeing, if any of your top executives are watching, I don't care if I get sued for this, but you need to hear it: Purge the old McDonnell Douglas practices from your company and return to the principles Boeing was built on-respecting employees, welders, suppliers, and engineers. Management and employees should collaborate to find safer ways to produce aircraft instead of cutting corners. Stop lobbying in DC to change rules just to rush plane production, which ends up backfiring. If you don't get your act together, it’s only a matter of time before two things happen: either you become a laughingstock and lose customers, or another American company will overtake you, treat their employees well, and buy you out. Boeing, get your act together.

Sell Boeing to Airbus and give the money to fund better the controllet workforce. Fund better training, fewer hours, more personnel per shift,better equipment. For instance Austin Rexas airport doesn't even have ground radar! Airbus could certainly use the addition manufacturing facilities because they can't keep up with their orders. (I wonder why?}

If it is a fact that the FAA Inspectors at Boeing did relinquish their duties to ensure the safety of Boeing aircraft to the manufacturer than those Inspectors should be fired and criminally charged with putting the SAFETY of the traveling public at Rick of injury and DEATH!

Every video starts with a long sigh when it comes to a Boeing video 😅. Boeing's intractable issues stem from not only its wonky work ethic but also the collusion of the FAA with the manufacturers. They are all complicit in these improper practices and fatalities as well as harrowing incidents. It's high time regulators' scrutiny and oversight put an end to assembly lapses.

It's lucky for Boeing that Airbus doesn't have the line capacity to take advantage of this. Airlines will still buy 737s simply because they're available.

I believe a bonus scheme would work for Boeing, for every fault found by the QA team a bonus should be given, hence encouraging them to find report and fix each fault, and for every plane with No Faults a bonus given to the staff who built it as should be.. obviously this should be done anyway but cash incentives could be the way forward
