But that would undermine the sales of $25 two packs of nitro-air. I bought 2 Barra 1100z rifles and 2 $30 scopes, and they perform just as well as these Komplete rifles at 50 yards. Barra's were $200 each, and have an adjustable regulator "spring hammer." For varmints, I use H$N Heavy slugs (38 gr) and at 850 FPS it delivers around 60+ FT-LBS of energy. Quite adequate for small game. I love blowing up 1/2 gallon plastic milk jugs at 60 yds. Sploooosh!!! Red dye in the water make a great effect!!

For inquiring minds, a 2-pack goes for $25. I think these could be incorporated into say a .40 - .50 cal home defense pistol. Maybe 6 - 8 shots and a preloaded, pre charged "magazine" system for quick reloading. Needs to be in the 100 Ft-Lbs range. Similar performance of a civil war era cap and ball revolver. 55 grains at 900 FPS renders 99 Ft-Lbs.

Thanks for another great review JC. Other than the scope, my biggest negative is the price of the cartridges. As much as i shoot, I'd pay for a compressor in no time using those. On another note, the Beeman Commander was my 1st unregulated PCP. Hundreds of rounds later, I found a decent hammer spring adjustment and what it likes best. We have had hurricanes, cyclones etc, so i was unable to shoot much. Here are my results from the tune H&N 14.6, 994 FPS, 32.04 FPE Gamo 15.42, 972 FPS, 32.32 FPE 21 grain slug, 861 FPS, 34.6 FPE (It likes these the best) 23 grain slug: 845 FPS, 36.48 FPE. For under $300 I love this rifle. That tune is working well for all of those weights.

This really is a great airgun for people who aren't PCP shooters-- which to the PCP crowd is a category of people who don't exist. When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail. This is a truly unique product will outperform the box-store springer and doesn't require a pump that costs more than your rifle and scope in order to operate. For an occaional shooter, do the math on that. You've got to shoot a lot to justify even a "cheap" $500 pump. Good job, Umarex!

I figured it up out of curiosity. To shoot a 500 tin of H and N Field Target Trophy 14.66 would cost 125 bucks plus the pellets at appox .04 each so 20 bucks and shipping on pellets and cartridges most likely another 20 bucks......so for one tin of pellets it looks like 165 bucks.........whew!!! One of those portable small compressors looks pretty good at these prices. This is an air rifle for someone who wants an accurate air rifle for elimination of yard and garden pests and does not shoot much at targets or for hunting as even squirrel hunting 10 shots is all you need. If they come out with an optional fillable air tank, I will buy one that same day. I really like light and easy to carry rifles for hunting. Cheers Kit

Not entirely sure it's a great idea. Granted there's the power over C02 and it's cheap to buy, but.. the nitrous is expensive. 40 good shots for $10 ? That's 25 cents a shot plus cost of pellet that's about four times the cost of .22 rimfire at current prices, about 6 to7 cents a round. I didn't want to get into PCP mainly because of the expense and equipment needed to make it work, so I bought a Co2 rifle (up until then I'd only used springers) to get the feel of a zero recoil multi shot rifle. It doesn't have the power of a PCP, but it was accurate and of course zero recoil and affordable to shoot at less than $1 a Co2 cartridge for 40+ shots and it did open me up to the possibility of upgrading to a PCP. So how many times are you going to use the Umarex before deciding to buy a PCP ? I can't imagine it would take long to rack up over $100 in nitrous cartridges, that's half the cost of a cheap compressor. For the cost of the rifle and nitrous used learning how to shoot it, to me it makes more sense economically to go for a PCP, as the the more times you use it, the investment in the pump makes it worth while long term, The price of the nitrous is a deal breaker. Personally, I wouldn't recommend this gun to anybody unless they had deep pockets and didn't care how much they spend on air gunning, and IMHO, this could be the BetaMax of the air gun world (ref for them old enough to remember VCRs, VHS and BetaMax 😁)

Once you figure in the price of pellets, shipping and taxes you're looking at about 30 cents a shot. For me, that's too much to shoot .22 pellets. I suppose that if all you want is a cheap PCP for pest control and very occasional plinking that that might be acceptable, but it's not something I'm interested in. Then you have to figure that these nitro packs might not be around 5 years from now, so this might end up being a rifle that you either can't shoot or will require some sort of adaptor to shoot.

Dunno if I'd personally buy one (especially when I doubt it'd be "200 bucks" anymore in my country..😂😂) - but it really is a one neat rifle for sure. It did not though take long to get to see the first video of just air attached to this rifle (I think it was a tethered setup, bit still). Could be made some parallel ASA connector block into the threads of this one, so that it'd get the ASA connector lowered down for the use of a thicker tank with a regulator (and just not only of them tube model air cylinders, which might be even without a regulator).. Will see what tomorrow brings, eventually. But something like this surely is gonna get some airtank mods for sure. 😁 I am at least now just happy that something new like this got made into production and onto the market for anyone interested..
