Over Easter weekend 2018, Iarnród Éireann with contractors, installed a new underbridge on the main Cork/Dublin rail line at Osberstown near Sallins, for Kildare County Council.
The underbridge was constructed in sections beside the rail line over previous months by contractors Sisk and Iarnród Éireann.
Work commenced for Easter at 00:30hrs on Good Friday morning and the track was reinstated by 10:00hrs on Easter Monday, with train services resuming at 12:30hrs that day.

Before a machine was on site so much work had to be done in advance to make this happen. Great to see the job performed so well here in lil old Ireland. Once completed it'll be like nothing was done. People will just take it for granted with no thought on how this feat of engineering got there. Well done to all concerned. 👍👍

Construction projects like this that are done in a well-planned well-executed manner to happen quickly with minimal disruption of traffic are amazing. Meanwhile in the US, a given road can be under construction for years on end. I don't know why they even bother putting "road work ahead" signs up, no matter where you are, what road you're on, that's a given.

We had something similar here in New Zealand. A company was building a coal mine and they had to stop construction because the government found a rare native snail. Someone in the government accidentally set the temperature too low and the snails all froze to death.

MS Earthworks Having grown up in San Diego, I can attest to the accuracy of your statement. In fact, you might even be underestimating their public works expenditures because at the minimum, five gov’t agencies are involved with every project, not to mention private contractors. Plus the economic collateral damage due to increased fuel consumption for hundreds of thousands of vehicles daily due to rerouting or being stuck in traffic delays, local businesses impacted by decreased customer base, sleep deprivation because people will spend a significantly higher amount of time on their commute, reducing the amount of time sleeping. And it just goes on and on.

I see stuff like this happening on a regular basis but what doesn't show in the video is the years of pre-plan and site work to get ready. After that there's months (maybe a year?) of disruption for any regular traffic in the area on existing roads before the magic weekend installation. Once that is done there might another 6 months of getting things back to normal and finished landscape work. The final thought that sticks in my mind is not allowing enough time for the earth to settle properly so the assembly doesn't shift come the next rainy season. That seems to be a common problem with anything built in a hurry.

Yes I noticed this too. The rail line has had to been closed several times before the bridge installation fir the piling work to have been done.

It should had more lead in support of the rail to stabilize the horizontal forces on the concrete square. Hopefully this is a light rail line and not open to heavy freight.

No, it’s a part of the national rail network, heavy rail - not light.

I was getting really worried about those 2 diggers getting trapped, I was quite emotional. Glad you didn't use jcb diggers = tories.

I didn't see any storm drains installed for the road surface to carry away water during a rain storm. Even though the track appears to be elevated above the surrounding ground level, it appears the road surface will be below the surrounding ground level. I wonder how often this floods?

Irish always build in 2 days, then spend 2 years having to fix.

@@darrenwheeler4496 Somethings are slow to change, you'll always find at least one Brit dribbling sh*t regarding anything to do with Ireland. Your exceptionalism, that residue of colonialism is slow to dissolve away, as things stand the UK may even be gone before it.

Ireland dosent tend to install storm drains outside cities and towns instead they engineer the road surface to carry water away to a culvert.

Meanwhile, a bridge down the road from my house that's approximately 30' long and 25-30' wide has been being replaced now for the last 4 months and won't be finished till at least the end of September.

@@vittutuu It goes over a small brook on a side road in the middle of the woods in central Connecticut. Trust me, it should not take as long as it's been taking.
