The New Education Policy, 23 states in India have already implemented this policy. The Karnataka Education Department in July mandated that the minimum age limit for admission to class 1 in schools in Karnataka should be six years as of June 1. Currently, the age limit is 5 years and 5 months.
What is the Right Age for Class 1? CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) states that a child should be 6 years old or older to be admitted to class 1.

My child is born on April 5th 2017. She'll have to loose 2 years only because she's short by 4days. She's already finished grade 1 and next year she'll again be denied admission to grade 2 because she'll fall short by 4 days. How many years should I make my child repeat 1sr grade for no fault of hers? She's an excellent student. How can we stop children from being born in April as they'll always stand at a disadvantage? Can the government ensure children are only born in certain months and not in April and May?

Only for the sake of 10 days my child cannot be be admitted to school.. and this days and 1 or 2 month short for 4 years and 6 years are not a big thing.. for LKG 3 years 11 months and for 1standard 5 years 11 months are more enough... I guess you don't have a problem. It will be applicable only to kids who are going to take admission for 1st standard in 2025-2026 academic year. By that time if they crossed 6 then no problem if they are below 6 like 5 years 11 months 29 days also be a problem. That is what I understand from her statement.

As the child is JULY born, the child is not eligible for LKG. Even when some school take her for LKG admissions when she gets into Grade 1 she would not meet meet the eligibility criteria for Grade 1. Then she will have to repeat UKG. You can take a call based on yours and schools decision on considering both the options.

Many of the state has min age limit below 4 yrs. In Mumbai it's 4 years as on 31st dec for that particular academic year... Means it's 3.5 years as on May 31st. I think this rule is in karnataka only.

So he was admitted in nursery and then in Jan 2023 govt.issued circular stating that nursery students can be promoted but said by 1sr June 2025 onwards child has to be 6years....what confusion .

Yes. As per the NEP the relaxation is given to students enrolled for LKG and UKG in 2022-23 academic year. So they would have crossed this age criteria year of 2025 by then. But unfortunately the students of Nursery ( admitted for the year 2022 -23) will not fulfill the criteria. Hence they will have to repeat if the age is not 6 years as of June 1st 2025.

Morning mam, thankyou for the information. My daughter is 14 nov 2018 born,she just completed her LKG but now her principal is asking her to retain in LKG only quoting the NEP. Plz share the letter that rule will be applicable from 2025,so that I can make my point stronger.thanking you
