@Black Sperm "And now check any plant ( which is indigestible) and not to mention precursers are shit. I don't know the RDAs for eggs off the top of my head, but spinach is more nutrient dense than beef liver and kale is more nutrient dense than sirloin steak. Plant foods also have fiber and hundreds of phytonutrients animal foods lack, and have, on average, 64 times as much antioxidant punch as animal foods. Plant foods also DON'T have the various compounds animal foods have that ramp up rates of disease when compared to eating whole plant foods. "Its obvious you are not made out of indigestible, cooked plants" Actually, given that I've been eating a vegan diet for eight years and lots of of my cells have been replaced in the last eight years, the current me largely WAS made out of plants. Like people are fine even if they only eat chicken nuggets, because they are not vegan? And it is harder to get the vegan diet right. On the contrary, it is so easy to get meat eating right, though. One slight problem with that thinking - why are there so many people with various deficiencies and food related health problems? the "dairy" category needs to be changed to "Calcium" or "Calcium & Magnesium" or something like that. We already have a "protein" section, so calling the category after the main nutritional component is not off. Because yeah, "dairy" is not a human requirement, the nutrients are and can be gained from other sources.

If you subscribed to the newsletter about the new dietary guidelines, you received a reminder with a link to the release...😊 Denmark got new guidelines too on January 7 centered around health and climate. They were bold, center your diet on plants, they wrote out loud "decrease your intake of meat", 350 g of meat per week is appropriate! Thank you for breaking down the new American guidelines, I listened to some of the stream, when they were released, but it was difficult to interpret as a foreign. I have my final exam next week, studying to be registered clinical dietitian, and we will bring the new Danish guidelines up 🇩🇰

Milk is no longer a 'food group' on Canada's Food Guide, it had been a food group since the inception of the guide and was still a group in the last publication (2007). Now it is lumped in with the "proteins" food group. food-guide.canada.ca/en/ Canada has a link to every food guide they ever published. Perhaps other Governments have such a site...? www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/canada-food-guide/about/history-food-guide.html#a1942 As a Type 1 diabetic I've watched the guide evolve since I was diagnosed in1981. Dietitians were always waving that publication in my face! They flipped when I went veggie in 1989 but were more tolerant when I went vegan in 2010-ish...slipped up on veganism 6 or 8 times for the first 2 years :D

Not much difference at the end all guidelines agreed in general that a well balanced healthy omnivorous diet is the way to go. Yes they also agreed that a well planned vegan diet can work (with the exception of germany and Spain) but that doesn't mean that's their MAIN recommendation, this is where vegans are extremely dishonest claiming that science is totally when them when it is (partially) not nowhere in the world this diet has been put in front of a healthy omonivorous diet.

MIKE, perfecto. I prefer Kroger STO products versus Silk and others, because Kroger supplements with D2 and B12, for most products, and adds E and A in others. I use their soy and oat together to do protein complementarity, as well as adjust the sweetness and texture. Their almond has added E. I use them about half the month, and half ass it the rest of the time. My only deficiency ever has been D3, which wasnt because I wasn't getting enough D1 and D2, but because I tend to be a night owl, and sit inside too much during the day. Exposing my torso to the sun a few minutes daily, when I walk my dogs, has fixed that. Thank you for giving me so much ammo against rabid Omnis.

How can they recommend literal carcinogens???
@Isaax3 жыл бұрын
I have a lot of issues with this video but for now I would just like to ask what your source is on the carcinogens in the meat? To my knowledge, the carcinogens in the meat we consume are so low that they "[definitely don't correlate strongly with cancer in humans]", which I got from a video on the topic that looked at a study that tested how bad carcinogens in meat actually were. The way you keep talking about it makes it seem like a major problem, but I don't have a source that confidently says that I have to worry about eating meat due to cancer risk. On the contrary, (again, to my knowledge) I'd be much better off in terms of overall health and cancer to go on a carnivore diet / keto diet that lowers my insulin to prevent inflammation and the likes. The notion I get form the video that a vegan diet would be healthier is something that doesn't align with what I have learned, so I find your claims questionable

actually, the 2015 US Dietary Guidelines said that fortified soy milk could be a substitute for dairy milk, so whoever said this was the first time, wasn't being entirely accurate. Unless companies start doing a better job at fortifying plant-based milks aside from soy milk I wouldn't recommend them either. Rice milk for instance is practically devoid of any nutrition. Soy milk has good amounts of protein, potassium, copper, phosphorus, healthy fat and is particularly rich in calcium.

There’s such a focus on protein, but it’s not required for foods in the USA to have a protein percentage on the serving size thing.... sus asf
@chaydonofallon13523 жыл бұрын
Because protein needs are based on the person. A 260 lb man has different protein requirements than a 150 lb woman. The reason there is percentages are to make sure that people reach the daily recommended values for micro nutrients and for not exceeding the amounts for several nutrients and there is no recommended daily amount for protein. things like total sugars and trans fats also do not have a percentage.

Thanks for covering the new guidelines; I didn’t realize that they were finalized. The wording on cholesterol and soy dairy alternatives was included in the 2015 - 2020 U.S. Dietary Guidelines (see below), so I don’t see how this update is any improvement. Unfortunately, our country is stuck in the nutritional 1980s. “The Key Recommendation from the 2010 Dietary Guidelines to limit consumption of dietary cholesterol to 300 mg per day is not included in the 2015 edition, but this change does not suggest that dietary cholesterol is no longer important to consider when building healthy eating patterns. As recommended by the IOM,[24] individuals should eat as little dietary cholesterol as possible while consuming a healthy eating pattern.” (hidden on p32) “Most individuals in the United States would benefit by increasing dairy intake in fat-free or low-fat forms, whether from milk (including lactose- free milk), yogurt, and cheese or from fortified soy beverages (soymilk).” (p49)
