Out of whack cholesterol could be a marker for viseral fat, i would think
@DrSeanOMara

It has not been well studied that I am aware of. When we were doing lipid panels we saw both total cholesterol & type 2 sub particles (the so callled large fluffy cholesterol that is not connected to a thermogenesis/heart disease and is actually more aligned with less disease lower mortality) both go up and triglycerides and type 1 (small Dense LDL that is atherogenic/disease forming) both go down. HDL or good cholesterol went up as well as visceral fat reduced. This was anecdotal and never published but caused us to abandon labs bc behavior wise and motivation came from the MRIs seeing disease/visceral fat and NOT seeing numbers in lab reports. This phenomena is why I don’t like DEXA scans bc they are like lab reports that way - just numbers. Visceral fat is the problem and it’s best to assess it visually and not just interpret a number about it.

A better marker would be insulin resistance usually marked by hypertension. Precedes type 2 diabetes. Avoid grains, sugar, fructose,HFCS, vegetable seed oils and low saturated fat diets. Basically junk processed foods. Be wary of so called plant based anything.

What is 'out of whack' cholesterol? My LDL has always been high since I first had it tested 20+ years ago. Back then I was vegetarian and had scary high triglycerides and baseline HDL. Also overweight, although not obese. Almost certainly I had visceral fat. When I went vegan, my LDL dropped a little bit, my HDL stayed the same and my triglycerides halved, but were still scary high. Also still a bit overweight, but weight dropped a little. Then I went low carb/keto and now I'm hyper-carnivore. I now have high HDL, still have high LDL and low triglycerides. I'm no longer overweight, have very little fat around my body, a little bit of subcutaneous fat around the middle (actually some loose skin from when I was overweight) but I don't have abnormal visceral fat and do not have fatty liver. I don't much like using the term 'cholesterol' when actually referring to lipids (HDL/LDL/etc), but in my case at least, there is no correlation of cholesterol being associated with or being a marker for visceral fat. Also, if you look at the keto/carnivore community, you will find many have high HDL, high LDL and very low triglycerides, but they are actually quite lean and do not have visceral fat (lean mass hyper responders).

@@trail.blazer the thing with those doing carnivore, a third have what would be considered optimal range lipids. I would assume it would be very rare for these people to have high levels of viseral fat. Those doing carnivore with say extremely high ldl would have to have a much higher chance of large volume of viseral fat, I would think. It would seem as reason to have a scan for viseral fat. Also getting all your liver function blood tests done too. Got to be some reason a person's liver is making so much ldl
@trail.blazer

@@brucejensen3081 Maybe LDL does things such as help with immunity function. Maybe LDL has been demonized for doing something that it doesn't do. Higher LDL in older people is strongly associated with /lower/ all cause mortality. I've always had high LDL (last test was 240mg/dL 7mmol/L) but based on DEXA scan and liver function tests, I do not have fatty liver. I also have triglycerides tending to be between 0.7 and 1.0mm0l/L I also had a lipid particle test that indicated I did not have problematic levels of low-density lipoproteins, so maybe that's the difference with some people. The combination of high HDL, high LDL and low triglycerides suggests the likelihood of larger LDL particles that are not a problem, might even be beneficial. That is common in people on keto diets. The research on HDL and LDL is a mess. It is almost unanimously agreed that high triglycerides are bad.

50 year old male. I've been vegan for 25 years with several vegetarian (Cheese) brakes of a couple months at a time every couple years. Always clean, organic, ingredient reading, etc. I've transitioned to carnivore over the last 3 weeks. 6 days now of pure carnivore. It's been a rollercoaster with energy and the way I feel. Hi there. Thank you for sharing . Are you working with anyone as you transition to carnivore? I’m carnivore as well but never went vegetarian or vegan nor into processed American foods. 12 years ago i started removing grains and gluten due to intolerances, milk as well due to lactose intolerance. Went paleo, then keto, then carnivore. So for me the transition was smooth. But i hear on my carnivore group the first few months for individuals coming from a heavy processed diet is rough, like one is withdrawing from heavy drugs. For me i got rid of all my IBS and life long constipation problems, depression, dry skin and other things. I feel the best ever. For others the healing is that much more amazing since they have so much more to heal from . And they do. And its inspirational and true testimony of proper human diet. When i went carnivore was just me and didn’t know anyone. Ive since gotten 3 friends to try it and sticking to it. Then i was looking for further support to optimize the transition, feel part of the community, support others and continue to expand knowledge. So I joined the Steak and Butter Gang and its the bet decision i made. The group is awesome, lots of zoom calls with members, q&a, a great program to follow and help people on all stages with their goals. I encourage anyone carnivore, transitioning, thinking about it to join a group. Will make things so much more easier, fun and successful. ✌️💙😊🥩

Fruit does not jack your blood sugar up as much as rice, bread, potatoes etc. Look at glycemic LOAD not glycemic index. Most fruit is about 80% water with the rest being fiber and simple sugars (specifically fructose & glucose), protein and fat (yes, fruits contain protein (5-7%) and fat (4-7%+)). Also, raw fruit is ANTI-inflammatory. It allows the body to carbo-load while reducing inflammation. Being a high performance athlete competing for Team USA in Karate and Obstacle Course Racing now kickboxing, I am very grateful to have learned about the importance of fruits for muscle glycogen replenishment for my fast-twitch fibers. The phytochemicals and antioxidants, electrolytes, vitamins (specifically vit C), and naturally filtered water help my body recover levels above all diets I have tested: Keto, vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian SAD etc. A diet focused PRIMARILY on fruits and vegetables is physiological designed for humans. Look at mammals; specifically those who are genetically similar to humans: monkeys, chimpanzees, gorilas etc. (98% fruit and vegetable based diet)… digestive system, enzymes, teeth, stomach acid etc… I am working on a book, but focused on professional fighting and chiropractic school atm hope to have some videos up on yt soon ✌️

First of all Vijay, thank you for providing this scan to learn from. I would like to see not only MRI’s but calcium scores. I am curious as to the flexibility of your vessels cutting carbs and upping protein and fat. Dr Gundry claims too much fat and protein causes a lack of flexibility of the arteries and risk in heart disease and circulation. Also aren’t too many MRI’s a lot of radiation?

I was a lacto-vegetarian for 25 years, have worked out (body building) the entire time, then went vegan when I realized the dairy allergy I had as a child still existed (and caused problems my whole life with sinus and then joint issues). I had a lot of problems with strict vegan eating. I was constipated a lot, anxiety went up, sleep was bad. I ended up starting to eat eggs (and now have a bunch of birds - chickens, guineas, geese, and ducks and they make great outdoor pets!) and have cut out sugar and reduced carbs to a bare minimum. I feel a lot better now and have a lot of strength. MCT oil is rocket fuel! I'd be glad to submit to an MRI to see how my diet compares in terms of subcutaneous vs. visceral fat.

We are designed by nature to use fruit in the late summer to build up fat stores for the winter. Fructose can only be utilised by being converted to fat in the liver. If you are also loading up with other carbs then the body can only then use that fat for storage, and the liver has a limited capacity to to hold on to it, and it can cause liver damage as the tissues start to scar. Paradoxically eating healthy fat, which encourages satiation is a way to lose fat. In the modern day fruit is available all year round and winter never really comes to our comfortable houses.

@Drcorvid, i have had constipation problems my entire life. Entire life. Only when i went carnivore, no veggies, no fiber i finally cured it. Ie, that means i go when i need to , never feel bloated, clogged, hurting, no gas, no gut pain. You dont know what that means until you go thru it. I understand, sound counterintuitive but it isn’t. Fiber is not needed on carnivore. In fact fiber holds the intestines from proper absorption, and you poop out excess material that basically was never needed. On a carnivore diet, your body has maximum absorption and little waste. And its that amazing. Why taxi the body with stuff it doesn’t need?! My own experience and testament.. ask any other carnivore about it, you will get similar answers. If you actually haven’t tried to go full carnivore, no fruits, no vegetables, no grains or roots… id highly encourage you to give it a try, 90 days (30 is barely enough to actually test anything) . If it doesn’t agree with you, well then at least you will know for sure, from your own personal experience. And that’s totally cool. Give it try? why not?
@YVM3311
@YVM3311 Жыл бұрын
What deficiencies are you thinking of? Cause I can’t think of one. The amazing thing is as you go carnivore, you pretty much need zero supplements. Again so many testaments of people that go carnivore and ditch all their meds and supplements once fully nourished. I know many. try it yourself and see what you think after. I hope you give it a try.

I might be Vijay's brother by another mother, because his MRI perfectly fit me before i went LCHF at the beginning of this year. I only had a bit of visible abdominal fat and small love handles, but nevertheless couldn't fit into pants from 20 years ago (I'm 55 now). With a LCHF diet, with almost zero added sugars, i dropped 15# and 2" off my waist, and can now wear those old pants again. Since there had only been a relatively small amount hanging out on the outside, most of the weight loss had to be visceral fat, which i hadn't even known was there.

Yes that bad fat: Organ fat, peri-organ fat (visceral fat) Muscle fat (myosteatosis) Deep Subcutaneous fat but NOT beneficial protective sSAT Superficial Subcutaneous Adipose Tissue aka : “Superficial Subcutaneous Fat” Its not the number that matters that changes but the type of tissue both gained and lost that does and the MRI is way way way ahead of a cholesterol panel or DEXA scan to optimize humans.

I emailed you. 20 year vegan no supplements. But getting an mri is another story. Lol. Doing well with the cutting out almost 100% grains / cereals over the last 2 years. Recently started taking B12 K2 Creatinine some Spiralina but still been eating too many oven fries. Got fresh veggies coming out of the garden now so easier to go out and grab some fresh food. I might be an interesting study. After 5 years of almost zero exercise with 20 years of extreme sports and stamina training prior to that. I also broke my hip 2 years ago. Want the 3 long screws removed from the head of my femur. Recently I have been doing longish reps with medium weight bells and some hill walking and sprints. Could be a good comparison I’m around 75kg

I would love to see your MRI and another in 3-6 months. Its not where you are but where you are heading that matters. You want to make sure you are always improving. The MRI is the best for doing that NOT your cholesterol panel. Great job cutting grains and cereals! That stamina training takes a toll. I see it a lot in clients who were former distance runners. I get them to convert to power building muscle improving sprinting. Thank you for your comment! 🙏

I feel this will be the best way to ensure a better chance for a healthy bone structure in years to come. Trying my hardest to cut back on any junk foods such as canned foods and oven fries and occasional binging on chips. Trying to move to cooked potatoes and consume foods from the gdn during the summer. I do drink wine in phases, maximum of 3 bottles a week. So, I spent 12 years active duty in the military. While in I noticed that some people had issues with doing sit-ups that I never experienced. It seems that some people were unable to flex in their core to be able to efficiently move up and down from the ground. They would sit up in this frustratingly stiff way, then seemed to collapse down - not really being able to reach out and touch their elbows to their thighs or go back down in a way that could be controlled. They had a fair bit of subcutaneous fat, but not so much that their limitations made a whole lot of sense. Nor did it make sense from a strength point of view. Would this make sense for someone with a high amount of visceral fat?
@DrSeanOMara
@DrSeanOMara Жыл бұрын
Yes potentially. I am still active military (NG) and recall the APFT before ACFT. A weak core can happen from either lack of development or atrophy from visceral fat systemically degrading muscles. Visceral fats damage come from both quantity and length of exposure. Most military are young so have not had enough exposure to their visceral fat yet to have substantial weakness but it’s happening and there was a lot of soldiers filled with VF when I would get them MRI scans. Old people are weak from visceral fat induced sarcopenia NOT bc of being old. Thank you for your service. 🪖👊

Good carbs aka complex carbs help reduce visceral fat While these fats surround the organs in the body, it can lead to chronic heart diseases. That said, by upping your intake of good carbs and lowering on other high-calorie foods along with regular exercises, you can see a considerable decrease in the fat around your belly.

Probably not. Most people expect healthcare to be free. You’re entitled to the life you pursue not whats given to you. If I gave all way and I did for years the results are horrible. If it’s free its value is free too. Now that I charge I get way better results and clients. People who want free service hang back at the campfire eating figs and dates while the more motivated leave comfort and pursue the hunt. They are the best clients with the best results to learn from not the entitled seeking something for nothing. I give way more to my followers than I ever receive and it is my nature to be more a giver than a taker. If I gave all my knowledge insight, away for free why would anyone come to me….to listen to me read it to them?

The best way to tell if you have visceral fat is to measure your waist. The waist circumference is a good indicator of how much fat is deep inside the belly, around the organs. For women, your risk of chronic disease is increased if the waist circumference is 80 cm (31.5”) or more and for men 94cm (37”) or more.

Overview. Complex carbohydrates are made up of sugar molecules that are strung together in long, complex chains. Complex carbohydrates are found in foods such as peas, beans, whole grains, and vegetables. Both simple and complex carbohydrates are turned to glucose (blood sugar) in the body and are used as energy.

The indians with 28% vegetarians and ~ 9 % vegans are rank 3 in most obese women, 70% have poor muscle health because the indians consume just 0,6 g protein /kg in average (minimum =0,8 g/kg for muscle maintenance). "According to the EAT Lancet study (1), Indians eat too much carbohydrates, sugar and processed foods, and too little protein, fruit and vegetables. Nutrition experts recommend consuming 282 g of carbohydrates/day, but the average rural population consumes 432 g/day."
