I too have the same full size Jim McLaughlin (LAW) which I believe to be the best fly vice in the world. Other dressers who have tied on my vice agree completely. Jim's upgrading of the original LAW design means that it can be adjusted to provide true single plane rotary action. More recently Jim has provided me with LAW - McLaughlin 80% sized jaws that are designed for dressers who specialise in flys down to really tiny sizes (say #4 - #32) for whom space around the hook is even more essential. Jim's 80% jaws need to be seen to be believed: utter precision and breathtaking quality. This is what can happen when a precision clockmaker like Jim, capable of working to .001mm tolerances, also happens to be a fly fisherman. Thank God I got in early on McLaughlin vices. In years to come they will change hands at silly prices at auctions.
