New Video Editing PC for 2023 Its Powerful

I build a new video editing pc for 2023.
Specs:
64 gig of ram Corsair DDR5
Intel i9 13900kf CPU
Asus Prime z790 Motherboard
MSI 3080 Graphics Card
Phanteks Enthoo pro Case
Corsair RMx1000x Power Supply
Samsung 980 pro m.2 Drive
Samsung 870 SSD Drive
Corsair icue h150i Liquid cpu cooler
After 9 years of working with my current editing pc it was time to upgrade. This new PC is powerful and should handle any video editing that I toss its way. Installing the components does take a while just go slow and be sure to reference the motherboard manual often. Also place one hand of the metal case to dissipate and static electricity that you might have before touching components.

Awe man, really nice build other than choosing the KF. The encoding and decoding power in the of the 13th gen IGPUs helps alot.

Totally agree, so am doing for the regular 12700/13700 i7 processor myself and then the RTX3060 for main graphics. The regular non K/F variants include both the iGPU and the cooler in the box.

Question: Shouldn't the cooler fans be blowing the hot air out the top and not sucking air and dust into the case and radiator?

I’m going to do a new build with this same case. I see you chose the 360mm radiator. Do you think a 420mm radiator would have any problem fitting in that same case?

I'm considering this case at this very moment, I had noticed that you had built this rig with the T.G panel in situ.. I'm pretty sure when opened it lift's upwards completely off.. a sliding hinge if you will. I found this video helpful for things to consider.thanks

"One port for USB-C" (23:30); I don't understand these motherboards, as in 2023 they are still loaded with the Usb-A ports I'm trying to get away from. I'm also looking to replace my 9 year old PC, which still runs my Word, Excel, internet just fine, but not good for video editing. Nice video shots, you put alot of thought into the components too. And suggestion for Newegg which sounds good, I was planning to go with Amzn. Im curious what your actual ac power draw is with your rig, like at idle and during basic video editing, are you able to measure that?

I totally agree about usb 3. At least 2 would be ideal. Nice to know others have gotten 9 years out of a pc. I have now built two PC's from Newegg and it has been very smooth going. I have not measured the power consumption on this pc. I do have a kill-o-watt meter but have not connected it here to see.

So far that drive has done remarkably well. Very fast. I can play back video clips sped up to 1200% without glitches.

Questions: any reason why you went with the 3080 rather than the 4070 ti? Also why Intel and not AMD for your cpu? Also would want to know what type of video editing you do, thank you in advance whenever if ever you respond.

At the time the 3080 was in stock and seemed to have all the specs I would need. All of my computers over the past 20 years have been Intel. I just stuck with what i know. The video editing is mostly youtube. 3 channels Land To House Tools Tech and Gear, Sethcraft workshop.

INtel is better for video editing compared to AMD. I would choose 3090 for a perfect video editing cpu

Question: should Mini MAC M2 or studio be sufficient for video editing at the professional level?

The M2 from Apple is an absolute monster. You should have no problem editing up to 4K

Why did you choose "KF" version of cpu for video editing? Isn't Intel's igpu drastically increase timeline performance?

The KF does have integrated graphics. BUT on a pc build like mine I wanted a separate graphics card like the 3080. Way more powerful to have a dedicated card.

@@ToolsTechAndGear the KF is a version without integrated graphics. And the "K" version of this cpu with integrated graphics (igpu) has way more powerful encoders to encode timeline h264 and h265 codecs than any Nvidia cards (including 4090). Your 3080 is doing other tasks better in the mean time like color grading and special effects in editing. Both GPUs work in synergy. Your build is still very impressive, congratulations!

@@akashbdj It depends on your budget and type of footage you want to edit. Some types of codecs require more processing power than others. Consider AV1 codec support in your gpu to future proof your console streaming.

@@armizani6358 So basically, we're trying to build a pc that can smoothly handle some stuff for my partner who's working on photos and 4K videos for KZbin/Instagram using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Light Room, and Photoshop. We've got a budget of $1200 to $1500, tops. As for me, I want to stream some of the games I play on my PS5 to KZbin, but the quality is terrible when I do it directly. PS5 streams at 1080p@60, yet the quality sucks (KZbin compression?). So I checked out some other streamers and it seems like everyone's using a PC with a capture card (like the Elagato 4k60 pro) to make their streams look amazing. So I figure I'll do the same thing - play on my PS5, pipe it through the capture card to my PC, and then send it off to KZbin. Since we're building a PC anyway, might as well make it good enough to play some games like Anno 1800, City Skylines, etc. Let me know if you've got any questions! Thank you

Less than $2k. My last machine lasted 10 years. That would put this build at $15 a month payment.

Ddr5 is still price prohibitive for many but if you can afford it its always best to shoot for future-proof Great specs, tho I would have gone AMD on the CPU

The 5950x is the equivalent of your 13900 and looks to be about $100 cheaper, tho it doesn't support ddr5 ram, so you probably made the right choice for a decade long investment I'm a bit biased towards AMD because it works so well with Linux operating systems

@@st3rox the most comparable cpu to a 13900k or 13900kf would actually be a 7950x not a 5950x

​@@ToolsTechAndGear I used to build AMD systems, but they had erratic behavior and heat issues. I have been very happy with my Intel builds. I am currently in the process of building a new system and even considered AMD (I know they've improved since I last used them) but after much research I have decided to stick with Intel. I am most interested in having an incredibly powerful video editing system. I also want to be able to play some VR games that do not work on any of the other computers here. I'll probably make a few tweaks to the system you recommended. For example, getting the 13900K and likely going with the 3060 instead of the 3080 video card. Thanks for a great video.

The CPU fan had paste already installed. Almost 1 year later and this PC is running great. I edit 2 to 4 videos a week for my 4 youtube channels and this PC handles it with ease.
