The Volvo V90 Cross Country Returns for 2024 With Refreshed Styling and New Tech
The Volvo V90 Cross Country has been a unique offering in the midsize luxury crossover segment since its introduction for the 2017 model year. Now, Volvo has unveiled the refreshed 2024 V90 Cross Country, bringing updated styling, new technology features, and revised powertrains to this rugged yet elegant wagon.
Visually, Volvo has giventhe V90 Cross Country a more aggressive, adventure-ready look for 2024. The front fascia has been redesigned with a new grille and bumper, with matte silver skid plates underscoring its crossover capabilities. The Thor's Hammer LED headlights are now standard. At the rear, new taillights mirror the headlight design. Volvo has also added more cladding and accentuated wheel arches for a more robust stance.
Inside, Volvo's latest infotainment system with Google built-in comes standard. This includes Google voice assistant, maps, and apps. A new Digital Services package offers upgrades like wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system. Heated front seats and leather upholstery remain standard equipment.
Under the hood, the 2024 V90 Cross Country drops the T5 powertrain in favor of the mild hybrid B5 and B6 options. The B5 uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with an integrated starter generator for a combined 257 horsepower. Opt for the B6 and its turbo and supercharged 2.0-liter generates 295 horsepower. An 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard regardless of engine choice. Fuel economy has improved slightly to 23 mpg city, 30 highway, and 26 combined for the B5 and 22/29/25 mpg for the B6.
Volvo's Pilot Assist driver assistance technology is now standard and incorporates more advanced adaptive cruise control for relaxed highway driving. Additional safety technologies include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree parking camera system.
With its refreshed design, new tech features, and upgraded powertrains, the 2024 Volvo V90 Cross Country looks to be an even more compelling choice in the midsize luxury crossover segment. It maintains the same upscale and adventure-ready spirit as before, with subtle but meaningful improvements. The 2024 V90 Cross Country should begin arriving at Volvo dealerships in mid-to-late 2023, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.
