To comment on the clutch issues you were having Matt, it's not the actual clutch but the pedal itself. It has this damn "helper" spring on it that makes it easier to press but harder to modulate. 10 minutes with a flat head screwdriver or similar pry tool and it's fixed.
@phattyhales9 жыл бұрын
Auto Young Yeah, I don't know why Ford had to put that stupid spring there. It kills all feeling in the pedal.
@tech4dummies5849 жыл бұрын
Chance Hales Auto Young I haven't driven a '15 GT yet, but my '13 GT clutch bites literally exactly halfway up on the pedal travel. I don't understand what any of you are talking about when you say "feel" in reference to the clutch, it's muscle memory. You don't have to think about it or feel it in these cars once you do it a few times. It should just happen.
@phattyhales9 жыл бұрын
Tech4Dummies The pedal in the 15 feels weird. Its pretty numb and you can't feel when the clutch engages through the pedal like you can on most other cars. It is because of that stupid spring.
@AutoYoung9 жыл бұрын
Tech4Dummies Take that spring off and I bet you notice a difference. It pushes almost at the top. Without the spring it's more linear and easier to modulate with that sprung fulcrum feel.

The problem with trhe brakes is that most customizers just put on the Wildwoods, but don't use a master cylinder with a bore large enough (aka stock MC). So, to get all that volume of pistons to move outward, you need to feed tons of fluid from the MC. To do that, either you use lots of pedal travel or you increase the bore.

It's amazing how many people don't know the difference. That is a 67 unibody. You can tell at the beltline right behind the doors. The 68's had a single accent 'C' bulge that was reminiscent of the 65's. This one has the 67 twin simulated scoops on each side so unless they grafted the twin 67 scoop sheet metal on each side of a 68, then it's a 67.

Matt, I'd like you to try removing the clutch assist spring on the '15. This was one of the first things I did to my ecoboost and it feels an order of magnitude better. The spring is halfway up the clutch pedal - just push the clutch in with one hand and pull the spring out with the other.

RE: Clutch feel; I'm not reading the rest of the comments so this may be repetitive... There is a helper spring in the clutch metal assembly under the dash that is easily removed with a pair of needle-nose pliers. It would be easy to replace on a car that must be returned (non-destructive mod). It makes all the difference in the world to the clutch feel - or so I'm told. You should try it and let us know if it helps. :)

They tried to bring back the look of the 2002/2003 mustangs. If you look back at this century, they do something with a fans ration match it seems. The 2006-2011 I think it is, tried to match first gen, then slowly from 2012 to current trying to match that early 2000's look. At least that was my explanation for this far out design

Jonathan Sawyer couldn't agree more. It's like a cross blend of the new edge and the s197
@samuelrs51389 жыл бұрын
+Jonathan Sawyer I agree with this, and personally I liked that early-mid 2000s mustang more then the one that came after.... this is a really nice match. When that last gen Mustang came out the trend was all about retro styling, and while it was cool, I think it went a bit overboard and looked too chunky for a *Mustang*. This looks a lot more sleek, sexy and modern. There are touches to the older models but they went with that styling philosophy that birth the early 2000s Mustang and I really think it came out well.

The annoying clutch pedal can be fixed by removing the clutch return spring. It is seriously the biggest annoyance with my car. It makes a smooth take off from a driveway with a bump impossible. The looks, some people hate it, some people love it. I think seeing it in person is needed before you can make that final decision, it has a lot of great lines that don't translate to photographs. And unless you're in the bay area where you see a rental convertible V6 2015 every few seconds, I'd hardly call them over saturated. I've seen only a handful on the road here in Utah.

Except they never get the fact that the 'old-car' theory does NOT apply to restomods, and modded muscle cars and F5R type street/race cars or any re-engineering type vehicle for the benefit of the driver/passengers and vehicle/ car/ chariot/ wagon/ etc. 4x large Big company conglomerations are dysfunctional meant to feed the top feeders. We all should engineer all of our own vehicles buy and sell to each other and buy their vehicles also because, then we would all have the money.

Guys that complain about a custom, ground-up built car costing $150k aren't the ones who can afford to buy them. Yes, there's a tidy markup on it, but for those who want something unique and cool it's worth it. I am NOT one of those well-heeled guys so it's nice to look at but ridiculous for me to consider. Down to Earth, I think the 2015 Mustang packs a lot performance for the money. Being a classic mustang owner as well as an import owner, it's hard to say how much is too much when building a classic car. Both of my cars have the same amount of money into them and you can't take the classic out of the car no matter how much you sink into it. They will always have there squeaks and slight problems compared to a new off the shelf car.150k seems a bit high, but they also have to eat( they eat good I bet.Ha)These types of cars are not meant for everyone. I'd never go for a car that loud, and would of course insist on it being build properly, but yeah.. I like the overall look, and going by what Matt says about it, performancer and handling it's an interesting thing. The 2015 Mustang: I'm exited for european reviewers to get their hand on the first Mustang built like irt should have any place in this century. It's gonna be interesting to hear what those used to so much more will have to say about it. So far it's looking good imo. Could end up being a cheap alternative to a real car, and since we pay a shit ton for the clever european stuff, a cheap alternative would be welcomed;)

***** Just wondering what your idea of a real car is? Not asking for brand loyalty here. Sure the leather isn't from cows that led a life of luxury, and the emblems aren't fashioned from platinum and sapphire gems, there is no 800 year old forest that had to be chopped down for veneer dash panels. It sounds like from what you said, this isn't a real car. If we were talking Vettes and plastic, I'd get it, or if these things still had solid rear axles, or even some glaring fault that sticks out like a sore thumb. It's better than 99.9% of what any European car owner currently has. What am I missing here?

"It's better than 99.9% of what any European car owner currently has" I'd love for you to show me proof of that statement. Since we both know that you cant: making moronic statements like that only makes you look foolish. Do yourself a favour and stop. "A real car": One that doesn't make reviewers/owners go "nice car but the dashboard is cheap as fuck, the suspension needs so much fine tuning, aso aso aso". All the bs that comes with buying a built to be cheap and thrown away in a couple of years american car.

Clarkson you ole devil, is that you? How's the jobless thing going... Most European cars are 4 cylinder fwd shit boxes, made by companies that don't meet our standards... We don't have Renault, Citroen, Fiat, Seat, Alfa Romeo, Skoda, Rover, etc.. Pfff look around you next time you go outside. As to the complaints about the Mustang, plastic is the norm for a car of this type, this dash looks fawkin nice to me. What is wrong with the new suspension? Jeez your just making stuff up. Mustang's and Fords in general are quality vehicles by the way. Competetive with Honda and Toyota. Try to buy a used one, prices are sky high.

***** I noticed the same thing. Matt must have been taking it easy on those guys when he only mentioned two faults.

We were talking about the 2015, not the 47 year old Mustang slapped together for a SEMA show... which is a crime against a classic. +jo05dk Nobody ever throws away a Mustang either, they'll sell it to someone who will fix it in almost any condition. I still stand by my 99.9% number. A BMW M3/M4 is about the level I'm comparing the new Mustang to, so anything less gets lumped into that very achievable 99.9% number. The BMW is above the Mustang in every subjective category, but the performance level should be about even. Where else are you going to get that for the money a Mustang costs? It's better than any hot hatch or diesel anything and the list of cars that could actually beat it is miniscule compared to the ones that don't. I'll even give it to you that a lot of American cars are disposable junk, this one is and has always been an exception to that rule.

2015 Mustang has more in common with a SN95 body style than any other year. I am ok with that, I like the SN95. Lots of people don;t. All this means is in a few years when the new wears off, people are going to hate on this Mustang. Although, what's new, the Mustang is the car the car guys love to hate. it's simultaneously one of the most ragged on cars, and considered a benchmark of performance. Don't agree? Ask yourself how many times you see people comparing some car to a Mustang, be it speed or handling, how often it comes up in videos of street races and even head to heads and the comment wars it starts. At the end of the day, the Mustang is an affordable car that is sporty enough to be a lot of fun, but comfortable enough you can drive it to work every day if you want, and it's been that way for a loooong time now.
