I had a 1998 Cierra 2655, that was very similar. Carbureted version of the engine. Loved that boat. Put 768 miles on it in 8 days- Cincinnati to Nashville. The layout below was the same . The cockpit was a little smaller. I have now had sellers remorse for 5 years and will start shopping again in the spring. Thanks for making me consider the Jeanneau.. And I am 72. :-)

That 20 year old boat is in excellent condition! He has taken great care of it, but there is something he mentioned that’s something we would consider, and that is the fact that getting a new boat gives you a few “no worry years”. Excellent video, thank you 🥰

Nice to see Jorge as subject of the video. His channel had helped many boaters with his fixes and modifications on his Bayliner. I can understand that his issues he was having with engine fast forwarded him into the crossroads he found himself in. I think he made the best decision for himself and family albeit a very tough emotional one. His boating needs and direction had evolved. In addition, I think this will benefit his KZbin Channel as well as the popularity of his new boat grows. His Bayliner is very nice boat with tremendous updates and has had meticulous care that shows. It will make someone a great family boat as it was for him. As one of his You Tube channel subscriber, I only wish him to you the best going forward.

It all depends on one simple thing. How was the oat boat cared for? That’s all that matters. Was it treated well? Or was it abused? Forget about the motor. Any boat can be re-powered. For a lot less than a new boat. If the hall is in good shape. If there is no rot. Keep the old boat. Lot electronics can be redone. The boat can be repainted or polished out. As long as the hall is in good shape, you keep the old boat. And when needed, you treat yourself to a repower.

i was going to buy a merry fisher 795 but after looking at other boats i i decided a cruiser would suit our needs better , we ended up buying a cruisers yachts 330 express that needed a little work but we love the extra space .you are blessed with that water there , not many places in the UK that are as clear as that .
@fredv74874 ай бұрын
First If I heard right Happy Birthday George. I myself just turned 66 this month. I personally would have repowered the old one. Can't see at this day and age of buying any of the new over inflated boats. For 500k I can make one badass boat myself or at least pay someone to do what I can't and save thousands. Took five years for the wife and I to decide on our 2002 Silverton 35 with twin 6bta Cummins. I think the problem with folks today is they don't take the time to search for boats that meet their life styles. They are to busy trying to get on the water and over buy their pocket books and settle for things they don't need and dazzled by all the glitter they will never use.
@AquaMarine10004 ай бұрын
As Shakespeare wrote, not all that glitters is gold. A used boat with a dead motor is a better buy and finally ending up with a new repower. Cheers

The end of the video sealed it; I/O engines are not for me with maintenance access fuel ventillation issues and the stern drive, beinga multitude of different metals submerged in salt water, a breeding ground for galvanic corrosion. I saw a 34' Sea Ray explode at a fuel dock in Seattle; outboards are looking better everyday with their improving fuel efficiency.

Outboards are the way to go. Even with this style boat, adding a bracket and outboards would make it even better! 🛥️🤙🌊

A good mechanic or handy person may even be able to find a great engine block in a salvage/junk yard that is exactly like the one on the boat. Allot of those mercruisers actually used chevy blocks which were identical to the ones used in many full size trucks. A switch out of the blocks is relatively inexpensive and is easy to do. They are also readily available everywhere. You can even buy a remanufactured one as well.
@davelawrence67774 ай бұрын
Great thought provoking video man but here's the deal no matter what you have you either want bigger or smaller newer or older but remember this happiness is hust being on the water. Two things I have every bost should have high water alarm and spot alarm system small hidable about 225 a year works on a phone app through goggle maps.so sensitive even a strong wind moving the awning will set it off with an alarm to your phone motion detected and if it's being stolen it's tracked on Google maps all law enforcement and you can tell them exactly within 200 ft where tge boat is. I know you like I have like in my case a1979 boat try to get good coverage for ins. So the spot is cheap ins.

USED ALL THE WAY. Research and Study the best boat for your needs and with time you will eventually find the right one. In my case it took over a year to find a simple 15ft skiff and I couldn't be happier. Patience is virtue in todays price market...

I don't typically like these kinds of boats (express cruises from 90's-2000's) but this boat is so clean it's insane. I have never seen one looking this good and they are everywhere here (great lakes). Brand new engine with everything is $15k (plus labor). Totally worth it but just replacing the block and using all the goodies from the old engine would make it a steal if your handy.
@perfectfitboating4 ай бұрын
Mark, this thing looks even better in person. It’s super clean. You could even get a used motor for less than half of that if you wanted to go the cheaper route. Hopefully, someone brings this boat back to life and make some great memories as Jorge has. 🤙🛥️🌊

@@perfectfitboating a reman vortech long block from Michigan Motorz is about $3800. (if it even needs one) I think you could get that boat going for $5K max. Boat had 60 x 80 inch aft cabin berth plus huge V berth. Most 30 foot boats don't have that

Used is better just ask any fisherman. Regulator is making 34 foot center consoles for 700k. You can literally get a 50-60 foot sportfisher for that price. 😂 The boat I’m looking at for my next boat will be a 38 El Bravo Henriques or Luhrs 44 convertible. Around 200k sometimes less. They don’t make boats like that anymore unless you’re gonna spend $5 million.

The amazingly well-kept Bayliner 2855 Ciera Sunbridge is of course the most boat for the money here, at probably $25k plus a remanufactured SBC. It was painful to hear the likable George's voice cracking when talking about all the family's memories in the Bayliner. A fully loaded Jeanneau 795 is close to $200k. The French-built Jeanneau is a great quality boat and due to the strong dollar good value among new boats, but new boats are now scary expensive and only really a choice for the upper-middle-class or wealthy people. If I was God I would have made sure that his newly serviced 350 Magnum MPI, with replaced manifolds even, would not have overheated on him. That should simply not have happened if a pro-shop did the work. I believe that the best boat buys in today's market, for 95% of buyers, are well-kept pre-owned high-quality boats that have been either restored or heavily upgraded with new motors etc., and that pass a professional survey with flying colors. May George, his Lady, and Loved Ones, have many great memorable nautical miles ahead in their beautiful new boat. 💞⚓
