Great driving with interesting technology discussions, and driving commentary - as usual with Thomas. Distractions? The 'cruise control' control - "Driving me nuts!" - yes. And the big central display seems quite distracting too. I like that the Touareg R occupies the comfort niche versus Cayenne/SQ7. Nice car, not that I would go for this type of big car! In the UK we are (Sadly) only getting the R type PHEV at the moment. With 22” wheels only. I have a test drive booked and will certainly paying close attention to the buttons on the steering wheel - after hearing other reviewers also disliking them.

Yeh I’m hating that new trend. It’s in the new Tiguan. Completely cheapens the look. The previous gen Passat from 2015-2019 is in my opinion in the top 10 most beautiful exterior sedan designs to have ever been created... And then it kinda went downhill from there.

After this excellent review---VW will implement some form of haptic feedback for the steering wheel controls. As for the HMI --once I get familiar with the screens, I usually split commands between voice control, Steering wheel buttons,-then if I have to--the screens.

Very nice but I wish they would give us 3 full seats in the back though, for 3 kids it's a must, that's why I'd go Q7, they have 35~30~35 split and isofix on all 3 seats, plus two rear seats as well.

I really like the look of the Touareg interior. I wish VW would take more inspiration from this interior when they designed the new golf! ...and throw in some analog knobs to control the AC unit, radio and a few other essentials while they were at it.

every SUV should come with diesel engine(towing, adventure, excursions, vacations and long range driving).. + 50-100km range on pure electricity(for city, start stop, work, shopping, drive kids around).. it looks great new touareg

If u're on full electric mode, the engine is cold, then you request for immediate power and the engine jumps in at 5k rpm. wouldn't that be bad for the engine?

Why is are the brake calipers not blue? Anyway, I can't deal with the asymmetrical dash. Yes, OCD. I also notice they have the rear wiper at the bottom. Many manufactures have re-positioned them to the top, out of sight, under the the spoiler. Also, no cover over the cup-holders, not very upscale for a vehicle at this level. I do think the black version is handsome.

Great review, whilst I like the large TFT screens, agree some direct buttons are much easier whilst driving. Is rear wheel steering worth it? I can see the wheel alignment guys sweating or some know it all dude making a complete mess
