People complain about VW's implementation of haptic buttons on the steering wheel. After driving our VW ID. for a year, I've come to appreciate the haptic buttons. Their main advantage for me is swiping. You don’t need to look down or fidget when you swipe. Simplicity. It took me by surprise when I realized how swiping works on the steering wheel. It’s amazingly intuitive. When you need to adjust ACC cruising speed or sound volume or skip songs, you just swipe your thumbs across the middle of those panels , effortless - no need to look down or find the right buttons. It’s a pity those buttons are misunderstood. Coupled with AR-HUD, you never need to take your eyes off the road.

Correct! Since we don’t own this one sometimes it’s hard to predict a particular option how it would be over long term, I myself drive a 7.5 Golf variant so my buttons are still buttons! But like you’ve said in many occasions the haptic buttons actually are better once you used to the feature’s the swiping is very smooth and amazing. But Volkswagen is stepping away from the haptic buttons, we tested a new Tiguan today and there were no haptic buttons on the steering wheel!

My Tiguan r’s haptic buttons started to fail from brand new…. Waited four months for brand new steering wheel and on that the volume buttons failed 👎👎👎

Experiencing issues with brand new car components can be frustrating, especially when it comes to critical functions like the haptic buttons on your Tiguan R's steering wheel. It's certainly not the kind of experience anyone hopes for when purchasing a new vehicle.

USA has plenty of models that we don't get to enjoy in EU. Especially people haulers

A bit sad isn’t it? For example Audi RS6 avant and USA regulations are less strict compared to Europe!

I hear you, I waited three months for a replacement steering wheel and after a while it started to show faults too….. Vw were not very helpful shall we say 👎👎👎
