Can this new Windows feature be added to Windows 10 (somehow)? I've been using this technique for years but would prefer to do it with just a couple of clicks, as shown in this video.

It only took MS decades to finally, and hopefully, do this right. The older System Restore feature has always been basically a shot-in-the-dark, and Hail Mary attempt. Now, let's see if it actually works, consistently...

First, sorry for my poor english, i'm slightly dyslectic! ----- Good MS for finally doing that. They should have done that for many years ago. I have used ta program called "RollbackRx for many years. This program, have helped me many times over the years. What Microsoft are doing now, are like "Timeshift" in Linux, which again is an ok "clone" of Rollback, but none of these are as efficient as Rollback. But Rollback are not free. I have 5 lifetime licenses of Rollback Rx. So GREAT that they now offer this for their users.

Nice tip if the system can boot. If it can't boot you will posibly have to use a install media to save the pc. As important it is to have backup of your own data it is just as important to have a install media so you can save your system. With a install media you can alsow do a "Repair install" and save your programs and files.

I'm on windows 11, nothing much has changed. The closest thing to modify windows to your needs is to use hotkeys. I highly recommend learning autohotkey. You can learn it in 5 minutes. The key words to do anything is "run" to run programs and "send" to write auto text. There's a millions things you can do with it but you don't have to learn anything above (send and run).

Sigh...I am soooooooo incredibly sick of the "changes everything" tagline. Everything? Really? Sorry, rant done. With that out of the way didn't XP have a similar repair option? I used to use this all the time and only needed my install disc to do it. This was one of the things that really annoyed me about vista and 7 when they took it away. But I recovered many damaged or non-bootable XP systems that just reinstalled XP over top of itself without losing anything. If this is something they finally brought back then YAY microsoft.

Once I had a weird problem where my installation wouldn’t update. Eventually I selected reinstall and it reinstalled windows and I had no further problems, However I had to reinstall my apps. I had a folder on the desktop with my shotcuts and that helped remind me of what needed to be reinstalled. That was the only nuisance. Be nice if everything in Programs and installed apps could be archived and reinstalled. That will depend on the vagarities of the app installers. I think there were 3rd party apps that could do this but they charged you every time you used it. I didn’t lose any data, it was my gaming machine and I didn’t have any docs on it,

Hi Brian, I was on the Devs channel and I was wondering why I wasn't receiving the update. Then I realised that they had released a canary version a while back, so I took the plunge and tried that I was surprised how long the update lasted, it seems this could be the foundation of Windows 12. I should imagine they'll start slowly building from this point on. What surprised me the most was that halfway through the update my second monitor turned on, it had never done that before and when it got up to 75% it did a reboot and once again it turned on the second monitor. I am sure this is not just an ordinary update. I think it's more than that, I think it is the bare bones on which they will hang Windows 12.

If this update can eliminate the backlog of outdated programs from the Devs Administration, it would be highly beneficial. There have been several instances where obsolete programs have caused issues with Windows after updates. However, when I perform a fresh installation, unexpected features that work correctly appear. Therefore, if this update successfully clears out all old Devs material, it will be incredibly helpful.

That option doesn't appear on my Windows Insider/Dev edition of 22H2, which is a shame since Windows Update hasn't been able to apply any cumulative maintenance patches since last October. Oh, there's nothing wrong with Windows Update, it can apply smaller patches just fine - but none of the cumulative patches work at all. I'd leave the Windows Insider program but there is no way to do that without resetting the system which I don't want to do since it would take me years to reconfigure all of my existing apps to work again. I'll probably be stuck running an out of date version of Win-11 forever, since I'd be surprised if Win-12 will work on my 10 year old hardware at all...

Just my simple mind, but with each update you would think MS adjusted a 'W11 Master Registry Copy', so that in the event you suffered an outage, on re-boot your Registry Hives were compared with the Master, suitable adjustments made and a happy re-boot resulted. But I'm not as clever as so many of you chaps, so just my KISS ('Keep It Simple Stupid') mentality. Apologies to those who find this naive. As for backing up data, anyone who doesn't deserves what they may suffer.
