This kind of point of view (I mean a game development point of view, at the ergonomic level) is very rare and extremely important. It's not general suggestions, but precise ideas and even illustrated ! We want more !!

Been on NW since close beta, and streaming on twitch too, and i found your ideia of the gear slots amazing, 3 slots (for dos the really play this game) are not enough, everyday i strunggle between changing gear sets... You guys know, that carry more then 10 gear sets on your inventory, it´s a pain on the buttom, and doing expeditions with all the gear that we have to salvage, it´s very stressful. End up opening your video, and give it a like

My experience with NW is one of hate and love. Been playing since closed Alpha, pre-purchased the highest tier of game(the one with the steelbook CD case) huge fan of the game and all that. Got 2.6k hours in it so far and done all mutated expeditions, all lvls with gold. There is not much endgame left for me other than crafting. If I will quit NW it’s definitely going to be due to all the micromanagement and tedious unreasonable mechanics that get in to e way of your gameplay like inventory and gearsets mgmt, traveling home to swap trophies, having your storage divided by storage sheds (even though technically they are all 1 massive storage)

It remains a game of potential. They have a base idea and go for it, never getting it to a final idea or workable full on feature. If you look at the type of issues that are still in the game it's safe to say it is still in beta phase. Grammar issues, sorting issues, Localisation issues, usability issues, etc. Most of the work on those doesn't even require a coder. With my professional background i can pretty safely say they are lacking quality resources and even resources all together (resources as in staff). I'm having a sense of lack of funding. Season pass is most likely their best bet on having a future as the cosmetic shop isn't all that interesting and not really properly designed either. I hope they can fix the main issue, which is on staff level, if the season pass works out. I have no problem paying for a pass of the quality of the content justifies the cost. For me, since the game is beta quality, it has not yet delivered a quality that justifies more than the purchase price. It's counting on the hardcore fans.

Agree. The status of the game is rapidly approaching near-Bethesda levels where players are literally sketching out their own fix suggestions. Also, the problem isn't merely the loadouts, inventory management in NW is and always has been an absolute nightmare that gets worse when you reach the endgame. IMHO, all settlement storage spaces should just be merged together into a single overall total (for weight/space restrictions), with a separate tab view for each item type. Yes, merge all the junk in storage into a *single pile* to rummage through. The "Storage Shed Tetris" has burnt me out several times tbh, as it's NOT the mini-game I was hoping to see. It's seemingly small things like these that start to accumulate over time...

Great video! It's amazing how many ward sets there are, and it never occurred to me just how many gear slots you need to fill. I hope the game developers make some changes and offer at least five ward sets for free. After that, they can add more to buy.

Awesome feedback. You're definitely right that the root of the problem is the design and not the amount of gear sets we can have. Although now that they doubled down on it with human mobs I think it's less likely they fix the problem that most of us hate. I haven't played New World in at least a few months. I'm really itching to get back into playing because there is a lot to like about the game, but now I'm leaning towards waiting until after 2-3 seasons have passed to see where they take monetization in the future. I have a feeling each season they're going to introduce one more thing to monetize like weapon mastery sets, attribute sets, trophy sets, etc. If they do that, then I'm done. The only way I'd tolerate it would be if they add a way to convert gold to shop currency similar to Guild Wars 2.

I agree with your view on the ward system. It just makes whatever gear that doesn't have either ward or resilient pretty much useless or a hard choice, depending on the other 2 perks or the task you're up to.

I like the design of implementing set abilities. For example 3 pieces of a set can give fortify and full 5 piece can give something more. Stat boosts would be nice. This way they can get rid of ward altogether. Would be difficult to do since lots of people invested in expensive ward gear. Let’s see what they do

In my opinion the ward system is the main issue here not that we have less gear slot. They have to find a way to balance this. Coz how I see it in 5 years we will have 20 different ward and we need 100 gear set slots. And on top of that, the weight limit is working against us. I am aware that there is no a perfect mmo, but this issue here is on another lvl

They need a TON more gearsets ... forget PvE vs PvP and Tank vs DPS vs Heal and all the Wards ... The game needs about 15 or so gear sets just for Crafting and Harvesting gearsets!

New World has always really struggled when it comes to gear design. Their gear perk system sucks pretty much all the potential fun out of finding gear drops, has poor balance leading to huge amounts of "trash" gear, and leaves very little room for variety. Nearly every element of the gear system feels like something holding the game back, rather than something that actually adds fun to the experience.

I don't like Sets tbh. Mostly those Set items become mandatory. Which leads me to my suggestion: Remove ALL mandatory perks like resilient for pvp or ward for pve. Add more perks that effects your abilities. Not one perk for each ability, make more. Or add perks that add something cool when you reach certain Attribute thresholds. Or perks that increase your attack speed but lower your damage or vice versa. There are not enough ways too make your gear individual. I know that it could lead to some difficult balance issues, but thats what a good MMO needs - large diversity with good balance.

while i agree, i also know that the way they designed the game, they don't have many options to change the way it's set up. Th ere has to be a way to keep people playing.It' s already not a new player friendly game. I've made a couple alts and it is glaringly harder, not as much fun. Getting a group for lower level dungeons and quest content is nearly impossible

I would love for them to remove the ward system, but let's not be naive about it, the ward system has a clear purpose. It's made to prolong your playing time. All modern mmos are made like this. They inflate the time you need to play with tedious tasks and "unnecessary" mechanics. The sole scope is making sure you never reach a complete satisfaction. In fact, player frustration is welcomed, because it drives him to play more. Remember when in vanilla wow you got all your bis gear? Remember how pleasing that feeling was? Forget about it, it's not going to happen any time soon.

I would say put it on something other than the amulet, because we are already switching amulets for the mutation element type (example flame protection), and everyone is running health, so having 3 mandatory perks on the amulet is a no go me. particular when those 3 perks do not always work together (5 mutation factions, 4 mutation amulets, that is 20 prefect legendary amulets)

Mid maxing should be optional is what it comes down to, and gameplay shouldn't be designed around 40% elemental resistance and 25% mob type resistance. If they ever decide to make full length raid with multiple difficulties, then sure for the hardest difficulty it's fine. Right now it just locks too many players out of content, and it's an overall tedious system.
