I discovered very recently that the lag detected problem that seems to plague my game is caused mainly by my cpu being overloaded from monitoring the resource monitor (hur hur). Sometimes it's the hdd r/w getting capped but almost never by RAM. That the game isn't outright unresponsive during these episodes is an indication that they probably have a couple of extremely good engineers who made the game engine. That the same problems persisted forever also probably means they are no longer in AGS's employ because I find it hard to believe that those same gods would not further iron out the kinks. Certainly no engineer I know, anyway.

Also all my "lag detected" issues came from playing on servers outside of my region. I live in Kansas so if I get on a west coast server it will constantly have lag detected.

Dislikes are likely due to calling this 'best settings', should have gone with 'my settings' as this is a hugely complex and subjetive topic that no one video will ever cover as it's a massive task and all games are different. Depending on whether you are CPU or GPU gated or both. For example lowering some settings can transfer them from a GPU function to a CPU function and if you were already CPU gated it could make your performance worse, but could work for someone else. You'll need to find out which setttings do this. Also to cover the 'wow I have the same setup but I get x frames' comments, monitor real estate is a massive factor that nobody talks about. For example performance will vary wildly if you are full screen running one 24" monitor vs someone like me running a 34" ultrawide and two stacked 24" on the side. The main monitor diffrence itself creates a lot more pixels to draw, despite the multi tasking and CPU / GPU draw of what is happening on the other two. You could have a 3090 and still be GPU gated with what you are doing on 3 monitors. Take what tips you can get from this vid, and you'll need to do the same with many more to figure out what will work best for your setup.

I think something people commonly forget is the computer resources are used for more than they think. I've met a lot of people that think the GPU is *only* used when gaming and that's just not true whatsoever. Your GPU is utilized for many different things. Windows itself uses the GPU cosntantly for the DWM (Desktop Window Manager) which is basically all of the effects Windows does among other things. Discord will also utilize the GPU quite a lot when in a call, screensharing, etc. Windows will also use the Client Server Runtime Process to process videos you're watching using your GPU. As you said, having multiple monitors means your GPU is being used to maintain all 3. If you have multiple things going on that's a lot your PC is trying to do. This is why the top recommendation on all things to get more performance is to shut down anything you're not using. Another common issue I see is people not understanding that some games are GPU heavy and some are CPU heavy.. so you'll see people like "X GAME RUNS FINE SO WHY DOESN'T THIS ONE?!" because they utilize things differently and have different things to process.. It's hilarious when people complain about like their singleplayer game runs beautifully but the MMO is slow.. well yeah the MMO has to process everything *everyone* is doing around you. That's why they're generally much more CPU heavy. As for the bit about having the same build and getting different results, there's more than just hardware that goes into things. Some people actually take the time to optimize Windows to run better. The software side of things highly impacts performance.

I feel like with my 3080 gpu & Ryzen 5900x cpu new world runs really smooth but every 1-2 minute i get a random 1 second studder that if happening at the wrong time can really mess me up. any ideas why this might be? Running the game in Fullscreen Windowed with the "-popupwindow" command helped me with microstutters and the game feels much smoother: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4C0knWMqt6SiZI&ab_channel=Danneh I had a 5800x and 3070, recently updated to 7800X3D & 7900XT. Both had microstutters, until I did fix above, higher FPS made it more noticeable. However, the random stutter every couple of minutes is something I've never been able to completely track down. Seems to happen more when the server is busier.

I recently changed my swap weapons to mouse 4 and 5 and moved my consumables up to 1,2,3,4. Much easier for me then pressing up to 5-6

Appreciate the video but honestly, the only way your going to get a good frame rate is if you have a CPU and Graphics Card that can accomplish that. There are no settings or configurations that will help.

its sucks on high end too, can get 280 fps average BUT it stutters and desyncs all the time. if you can get a smooth game without stutters and desync at a lower fps that is far better than high fps

2600 X and A3060TI Could not run this game even on low I was getting into 30 frames fps opr. Went to a 5600 X and on high settings with the 3060TII never dropped below 60 anywhere. On medium OPR stays in the 70 ish FPS An open world stays around 120fps. have 32GB of 3200 and new world uses. 1440p.
