Can someone explain to me the difference between the international master title and the Grand Master title. When do you get your GM title. Is this from a certain rating or do you have to win tournaments? How does this work?

In order to become a GM you need to have at least 2500 elo, and you need to get 3 GM norms. You get each norm by having a 2600 level performance in a long tournament where the average player rating is high, there are at least 3 grandmasters and players from different countries are playing.
