I didn't notice it at the time, and I think what you're seeing may be a combination of rolling shutter on the camera and the bouncing of the radio's control head due to the loose mounting extension. I'll have to take a closer look next time I'm at the store.

They just reboxed 3 old radios that do do not have C4FM and jacked up the price. That one looks almost like my FT-3200 2m 60 watt C4FM that I have in my truck. Was going to replace it with a FTM-200 but they have discontinued the FTM-200 and said the 150 is a replacement and no C4FM. Bad move Yaesu! Build three radios that no one will want.
@HamRadioOutletАй бұрын
There's always a reason why companies like Yaesu discontinue popular radios and release new radios, even ones that are similar to the ones they discontinued. In recent history this was done because parts for the earlier radios were no longer manufactured, making it impossible to continue making the original radio. The new radios, with new designs, more power, and more new features, are manufactured with new parts, which cost more. It costs companies like Yaesu hundreds of thousands of dollars to design, build prototypes, test them, retool their factory and produce the new radios. The alternative is to simply stop producing the radios they can no longer manufacture (because parts are unavailable) and not make replacement radios. If they do that, we hams lose.

Wish it would get here sooner so I can put one in my Wrangler TJ. Hopefully it will be comparable in price to the old model, since there are no new features, just a dark screen. Icom can keep the overpriced bracket that mounts the face to the unit (should be included free). I'll just 3d print my own🤣

I now have the Yaesu FTM 150R asp as of 11/29/24 and have just found out by a email from RT Systems they have just received the radio and will be working on the software programming how far is the great radio it's a loudspeaker on the head cannot wait to mount it in my car I'm trying to get all the frequencies repeaters program that I want in it now. @HamRadioOutletАй бұрын
@@Tommy-K4BWN If you have another radio, why not listen to the FTM-150's transmitted audio, both with tone and without? If it legitimately sounds bad on your other radio, then it's the FTM-150. If it sounds good, then it's either the repeater or a problem with the path (RFI). Look at the problem objectively... don't let your brain make up a problem and then confirm it! If you can't key up repeaters with the new radio that you could with your old radio, it's almost certainly a programming issue... for it to be a radio problem the new radio would have to be outputting less than 50% of its rated output power before you'd notice a difference, or you wouldn't hear your transmission on the other radio with CTCSS decode turned on!
@Tommy-K4BWNАй бұрын
@@HamRadioOutlet the other radio hits the Repeater fine but they say my Yaesu ftm150 just don't sound good and I can hear what sounds like another radio in the background when I un key the mike I have one repeater program in the radio I can hear people talking and still key up the Repeater on too of them but they can not hear it
@HamRadioOutletАй бұрын
@@Tommy-K4BWN Again, I say, listen to your FTM-150 on your other radio. It's possible you have it on WFM, instead of NFM (or vice versa). If you can't hit a repeater with the FTM-150, then it is almost certainly a programming issue. If you can hear "what sounds like another radio in the background" when you unkey your FTM-150 then that's not a *transmitting* problem . Sounds like you have strong local interference. Without you doing some testing, as I suggested, and checking the new radio's programming, you're not going to find the problem. It *could* be a bad FTM-150... but that's extremely unlikely.

Yaesu keeps introducing VHF/FM radios with or without features and then discontinues them. They are like Chinese radios. Waiting for next generation of Icom or Kenwood.
@HamRadioOutletАй бұрын
Yaesu, like every other radio manufacturer (including ICOM and Kenwood), has been hit by component shortages and obsolescence. Rather than simply stop manufacturing popular radios and leaving a gap in their lineup, they redesign radios using components that are available, retool their factories, test, and mass produce the new radios. This shows commitment to the amateur radio community. Obsolescent components are replaced by new components. new components are guaranteed to cost more. Retooling the factory costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. Redesigning a radio and bringing it to market is not a task undertaken lightly.
