Marcus, what’s new since your last project with us : Bolt « El Ratón Asesino » ?
A lot of things changed after our last project, but one thing is still the same: My passion for Yamaha and my passion to build and modify bikes :-) So I was pretty proud and honoured when I was asked from Yamaha to be part on the 4th Yard Built Project. But I have to say, the fist 2 Yard Built Projects where called „Yamaha Hyper Modified“ at the time and it was a kind of blueprint for the start of the upcoming Yard Builts. So as you want, I was part (together with Roland Sands and Ludovic Lazareth) of the very first Yard Built ever :-)
Where is the inspiration of the Apex Rule coming from ?
On the APEX RULER I was really focused on the performance, mostly on the fact of loosing weight. Since I race motorbikes myself since im 16, I know how a bike have to handle. It’s not that much important how much power it has, most important is the power to weight ratio. I brought the bike down to 145kg, ready to run! I increased a bit the power of the engine with another exhaust, airbox modification and a Power Commander, so at the end we had around 85hp on the rear wheel. So to come back to your answer, the inspiration for this bike is a mix of a high performance race bike and a old-school Dirt Track racer.
What are the technical / design specification ?
Here are just the important modifications and parts:
Roto Box carbon wheels, one of a kind
Complete bodywork, except the gas tank, is hand made from 2mm aluminium
Supsension front and rear is from Wilbers, both one of a kind
Exhaust is made from SC-Project in Milan
520 MotoGP racing chain with matching front and rear sprocket
Rear sets from LSL
Many WalzWerk parts, like handle bar, brake- and clutch levers, fork pre-load adjuster, gas cap, seat etc.
What do you like on the XSR ?
A stock XSR700 is already a bike where you have lots of fun to ride it. Very light and a great handling. It doesn’t take much to turn it into your personal and individual XSR. So the parts program which is offered for this bike already is immense. So the XSR is a perfect base for a cool and outstanding custombike.
