Holy smokes. Nicely done, Yamaha, and at $500 less than the Electro 5, with arguably more features with the FM/synth set and more enhanced features of the rotary and drives. Color me impressed. I await the Nord vs Yamaha comparisons with great anticipation!

I'm not here to nitpick the sounds. What I wanted to comment on is how musical and how performance friendly this keyboard seems to be. I'd have to try it myself to confirm. But so far every demo I've heard seems to confirm my observations. Every one who has done a demo seems to be quite comfortable playing whatever it is they want to play with the YC61, and that speaks positively of the instrument.

maybe will cut on the nord stage compact sales not on the electro as the nord is 1499€ and this yamaha is 1879€ edit* What?? $200 less? I think not. The yamaha is $2000 the nord I think you can find at $1499

It looks like there is no place to mount a music stand. And I can't find a music stand listed as an accessory on the Yamaha YC61 page. Nothing in the user manual either. That is a must for me as I play from Real books and lead sheets most of the time. Is it true? No music stand?

I own a VR09., and its a solid instrument. But to my ears the YC61 organ sounds much better to my ears, particularly the rotary speaker effect. That the YC61 has waterfall keys also trumps the VR09 from a performance standpoint.

Complimentary action, the CFX & Bosendorfer sounds, plus the ability to connect the headphone out from the YC61 into the aux in for a really nice stereo monitor setup - the P515 might be an ideal bottom board for the YC61.

@johnnulf6245 жыл бұрын
bsdguy I agree that the need for a hundred different hardware keyboards is becoming more and more obsolete. I will say though, both Yamaha and Nord have some impressive piano samples. You can get good plugins like Keyscape, however I haven't been all that impressed with the range of upright pianos in vsts. I hope that in the future, more major hardware manufacturers will bring their sounds to vst. The other objection I have is the lack of quality in the midi keyboard sector of the market, particularly in the keybeds and the build. Also, very few of them have a built in soundcard, which is a convenience of this keyboard. Midi is the future, but I wish the barriers would be overcome faster

Great product, features and sounds. But I find it amazing that you can hear it when a piano sound is played with light weighted keys. No offence to the YC61 though. It isn't meant to be a piano.
@555ontario5 жыл бұрын
Would have to think the weighted version is on the sidelines and will, at some point, make its grand entrance. That's usually how it goes. For sure a 73 noter but an 88 will no doubt be in the offing.
@RayyMusik5 жыл бұрын
Since this is primarily an organ (with valuable add-ons), a weighted keyboard wouldn‘t make sense. I don’t like to play piano on organ keys either, but the other way round is just horrible and hurts your hands.

My dream is that they bring the keys, the sounds and the easy interface to cheaper keyboards. I don't care a lot for extra functions (just a metronome), I think that the core of every keyboard is keys, sound and user interface.

it definitely looks very cool and elegant. However, with all due respect I never understood the real concept behind these types of keyboards. Besides being ridiculous expensive they all end up sounding like ATARI music. I know this type of music was popular during the Hippies "Renassaince" era but nowadays with all the advances in music technology you can get workstations that produce better sounds at a fraction of the price. One more thing, the first guy in the demo video , in spite of being a great keyboard player, should have lost some pounds or at least covered that big belly and groom a little bit for that video, I'm just saying! After all that launch video is going to be seen all over the world!
