Thanks for stopping by my channel and hanging out with me for another video! In today’s video I am sharing my post-holiday home reset, getting all the holiday decorations packed up and the house all nice and clean and tidy ready for a fresh start for a New Year. Since we found out at Christmas time that the landlord wouldn’t be renewing our lease in this apartment, and that we would need to pack and move in less than two months, I honestly couldn’t wait to get started packing. I hope you enjoy today’s video and get some inspiration and motivation to give your home a post-holiday reset and refresh ready to get a New Year started!

Have you packed up all your Christmas and Holiday decor yet? I usually leave mine up a little longer than this but this year I was more than ready to get it all sorted out, decluttered and neatly stored away - maybe we will do Christmas in July this year so we can get an extra use from the beautiful lights and decorations AND enjoy 'Christmas' when it's cold and cosy!!!!

I’m so ready to reset house. Going to tackle kitchen today as there are various things cluttering my work tops (Xmas biscuit tins, Xmas chocolates, new Prosecco glasses etc). Taking my son back to uni on Fri so need to prioritise spending time with him and preparing his stuff so the main tree may have to wait till the weekend. I have a white twig tree with lights that I may keep up a couple of months until spring. I also like to use a lot of candles during winter here in Uk to keep it feeling cosy.

I started removing Christmas decor on Jan 2nd. I usually leave it up until the traditional 6th but this year I needed that space to breathe. I’m still leaving the tree up though, in the evening it’s dark now at 5pm and the tree is so beautiful with the twinkling lights.

I actually bought a dishwasher (cheapest one on Black Friday sale) and installed it myself as I thought we would be staying her another 6-9 months 😩 oh well I am sure it will sell pretty quickly on Marketplace 👍

Our current home is very small so I packed everything up on Boxing Day. As much as I love Christmas decor, I was feeling a bit claustrophobic. Great idea to use a table to sort it all out. Sending all the good vibes for securing your next home.

@@TheSundayStylist do you really feel the need of having so much xmas stuff instead of a symbolic little decor? I have never set xmas decor in my own house (as my mom did). It feels more relaxing as one doesn't assume obligations, external obligations. As I follow you and other minimalist influencers, I wanted to share my thoughts. Hello...still here in sydney. I have been seeing so much rain up there in QLD. Can't imagine you cleaning in the heat with all the humidity! I'm hoping you will be able to find a decent place with air conditioning. That's just brutal to live without ! Your boys are growing up so fast. They both looked so much taller this time. Love a good reset - we're about to get the reset of a decade with having to move house - we are in a similar situation you were a year or so ago. Hopefully we find somewhere soon because if not we genuinely have no options and may have to re-home our pets... but... hopefully it doesn't come to that. I still have Christmas up. I traditionally leave it up until the Epiphany and take down the first weekend after it. This year will be easier because I didn't get a tree because I was traveling a lot this year. There's something special about Christmas time and it being cold. I live in Florida but originally from Pennsylvania and a cold White Christmas checks all the boxes. Good luck in the new home hunting!

The Christmas Season of the Catholic Church extends until the Baptism of Jesus which this year is January 8th. We keep it up till then 😊 I'm sorry you have to move again!! I hope you are able to fund a new place asap.

The rental crisis and new laws for landlords - I asked to stay and offered an extra $50 per week and owner said no. Usually the price goes up so much after each lease the current tenants can no longer afford to stay so it’s a constant cycle of tenant turnover - it’s completely f📣📣📣📣📣d

Agree, in a smaller space the decorations feel more cumbersome than cozy and relaxing! We just moved into a new apartment and already packed Christmas and put into storage. And I'm someone who left the tree up til Feb last year when we were in a bigger house.

We used to only have that small Xmas tree I took down first - then we received the Balsam Hill tree a few years ago in a collaboration - it's beautiful but man it takes up some space - not only when it's up but to store for the year takes an entire shelf of garage storage!!!

I finally got rid of my artificial christmas tree this year after 20 years. I live in a one bedroom apartment with limited storage space and it was taking up a large chunk of my hall closet. i decided to chuck it and just keep some santas, a mini table top tree, some candles and stockings and fill a few clear vases with ball ornaments. my place still looked festive but not having to deal with a huge tree helped! I don't have any children though - it is just me and my partner and he couldn't care less to have a tree or not ;)

Yes it’s so much easier we used to only have the tiny tree I packed up at the start of the video until a few years ago when we were given the big tree - it’s pretty for sure but it’s a lot of work and takes up a lot of storage space!!!

It's gotta be done right!!! I think breaking it up into a few sessions is a good idea if you have lots - tree decorations one day, tree the next, holiday decor another!!! And remember to recruit the troops for all the help you can possibly get!!!

I filmed one place that was empty but if there are tennants with their personal belongings still in then I wouldn't - and most are still occupied as owners want zero vacancy when rent $$$ is so high!!!

Oh my word....are you moving again😮 can't you ask for your lease to be extended another year? I do this every year with my landlord (going on for 7 years) and each year he just increases my rent by 10%.

I asked and offered $50 a week more but she said she wants the property vacant to assess her options soooooo 😅 whatever that means!!!! She did say when we moved in she wanted to sell after this lease maybe she prefers to sell unoccupied???

@TheSundayStylist Oh she's one of those landlords...whereby they charges a new tenant each year a higher rent instead of an existing tenant as per property law you can only increase it by a certain %...believe me I know of people who went through the same thing and the flat was never sold. I believe in Australia you have a lack of rental accommodation available - so it's golden egg for property owners to milk it while they can.

Unfortunately not I offered extra $$$ to stay another 6-9 months but the owner said no, the building had significant damage to the upstairs apartments in recent weather - the ceiling fell in on the old guy in one of the top floor units!!! I think she wants to try and sell the place...
