The attention to detail of having the shadow of nibbler in the pilot is a good example of why the show was so good. I doubt they fully fleshed out his plotline at that point, but having the seeds of things like that and the kook with the 9 on his shirt that don't become significant until much later is rather impressive. It makes the entire original run worth watching just to catch those details.

Exactly what I was thinking. I remember, as I am an Australian, trying to explain to people in San Francisco (where I was at the time) that the millennium bug thing looked ok as Sydney seemed fine. They couldn’t comprehend that Australia had already entered 2000 and it was still early afternoon NYE in California. Eventually, I gave up…they were very, very, very confused.

One small plothole was solved by the ending episodes. Do you see the ships leveling New York in the background? Well, Bender controls them. Of course he would avoid the building Fry is already frozen in (that still survives the rebuilding into NNY) because that would create a paradox where Bender doesn't return to the past to eliminate Fry.

Yes. But Seymour and Fry's family in 2 universes will see him again. Funny how universes in futurama are tied to 4 instance cycles. First two in cycle live and jump in time to kill the other 2. Remeber, the second one in cycle has no reason to kill hitler while time traveling because the first in cycle killed their hitler. This means that having both Hitler and Roosevelt alive, we live in first of 4 cycles therefore our Seymour and Fry's family will never see him again.
