Some months ago I saw a gorgeous Gretsch on line at a local Long and McQuade music store (the largest music retailer through Canada). It was a junior size, but I had to see it. When it was given to me out of the box to try, it felt like holding a toy. My wife didn't know and she exclaimed 'Why is it so small!' Even the staff member said how it looked too tiny for me, and it was. Eventually, I fell in love with and purchased the G5427TG in Midnight Sapphire. One of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen. In fact, the last one in Canada, brought in from another Ontario store. And so far, it is no longer available in Canada. I lucked out! I've always loved Gretsch guitars... a big fan, but this is my first one. To put this in perspective, I'm almost 70 years old. My favourite styles suit a Gretsch. Started playing about 10 years old. Now being 6' 2", 135 lbs, broad shouldered, the regular size guitars fit me. I don't know who the gentleman is playing in this video, but damn!, he's great! Guess my point is, he must be somewhat diminutive in stature, because the Junior fits him like a full size fits me.

That curly maple is stunning, I bought the 2627t streamliner a month ago even though it has the broad tron pick ups I actually like them...I can go from dull smooth jazz sound to being gretchy with the right twist of a few knobs on the amp. Love my gretsch!

I've always said that Gretsch, regardless of range, is the best brand in terms of bang for buck. They're versatile, stylish, comfy, historic, there is no downside. my favorite guitar brand by far

Nathan should be heading to the Grand Ole Opry with that twangy thing. Well done. I have 2 Gretsch axes - the G6120-CMHOF, and a G5230T in Cadillac Green. They are two of the standouts in my collection. The Chet is a full duplicate of the Country Music Hall of Fame's 1954 prototype that was presented to him to get him over to the Gretsch family. It has the TV Jones Dynatrons for pickups and the Jet has the more modern FilterTrons. Incredible players and fantastic sound from both.

The Streamliner and Electromatic lines are mind boggling quality for the value. Really up there with guitars that cost 5-10x. I've bought two Streamliners and 1 Electromatic brand new for less than $300 on blowout prices, and a used 140th anniversary semi.

Merci d'avance

Finally somebody unafraid to use fuzz on a gretsch demo

I'd buy one if it didn't have the whammy bar.

Gretsch make a bunch of different models and 99% of vid demo's usually gravitate to the traditional twang tone and playing which is nice, but HOLY GOD their smaller looking 'twangster's' are complete monsters for arse kicking harder rock with the right amp or modeller/pedal -you'll need a good rest afterwards be warned. =they are a force to be respected.

Good comment. Agreed all demos seem to migrate to the twang. Thx Chet. But from what I’ve heard. Don’t own one (yet) they can be beasts!

@@randalljwarren151 The Jr semi's are the best kept 'secret total little slaying machines' when used properly and set up to match with the right modeller or decent amp...unstoppable mine murders everything daring the challenge, I kid you not, it's retired my 69 Paul to the basement for the last 2 years...particularly live!

@@randalljwarren151 If you decide to test one, test the cheapest Streamliner Jr but only with the V tail...not the Bigsby model if you are searching for sonic bliss and sheer feel playability. aim for the Indo batch model if they are still available foremostly.
