You could definitely tell when Dick Clark's health was failing after he returned from that one-year sabbatical following his stroke. It was heartbreaking. But it also prompted me to watch my health closely, as diabetes and cancer both run in my family.

Happy New Year, everybody! Its the last day of 2012! When, you're watching NYE w/ Ryan Seacrest tonight,if you all were alive in DC's life, remember it all. RIP DC 11/30/1929 to 4/18/2012. Also,if your not watching NYRE,reflect on this year, including Superstorm Sandy (i was in it!) I lost power from late Monday afternoon, then got it back late Friday night. One of my uncles got power the day right after the hurricane. After Sandy,i got a BIG blizzard, which was Athena. Anyway,Happy New Year 2013!

Not even close, I TRIED watching it a few times and I change the channel after 2-3 min. Ryan and that annoying loudmouth Jenny McCarthy is full of cringe! Heck, I'll just tune into earthcam .com, watch the live online stream from there - with the TV on another channel in the background....if it comes to that.

I remember the ball went dark for a minute before either 1980 or 1981, it was for the American hostages in Iran. They were released a few weeks later after Reagan took office, 444 days in captivity. I can't believe that "Big Apple" ball was little over 30 years ago, I remember that also.

The two things which stand out in this collection: ONE - How much less the crowd was into it when comparing the changeover to 2001 and 2002, thanks to September 11th. TWO - Dick Clark being in full spirits with the changeover to 2004. Of course, he suffered his stroke that year, which was why Regis Philbin filled in for him.

It isn’t the same without Dick Clark. He was a classic person back then hosting Dick Clark’s New Year Rockin’ Eve. The last time I watched Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve was in 2013. That year, Ryan Seacrest and the other people were so much different than Dick Clark and made me very sad. Now, I watch a different TV Channel that does coverage on the Ball Drop. But I will always remember Dick Clark doing the countdown for every Ball Drop and makes me very sad he isn’t with us anymore.
