The term you were looking for is “melodic”. Out of all the submissions I’ve watched, yours is one of the best compositions and executions (given the source material). And I’m happy to see your artistic tastes and skills mature. Your quite right; There’s not much memorable in a shred these days. Now writing a solo that shines within the confines of the given rhythm, vocals, as well as percussion is what sets one apart. I look forward to your future work. Best wishes V

gotta say i love ur style, so much feel in this solo. It's what it's all about, mindless shredding is more of a party trick, this is true style and skill.
@0ccupationalHazzard14 жыл бұрын
Love how the tone cuts through the other layers. Also perfect combo of technicality and melody, was memorable and you exhibited three main Metal solo techniques: Tapping, Alternate picking and Sweeping. A video on how to come up with these kid of creative solo's would be really useful for people like me who wan't to play something creative but find it harder to come up with stuff that sounds cool.

It's been 7 years and i haven't found better solo yet.

@Doctorfroggie With sweeping it's a collaborative act, as you essentially need to be able to get your hands working well together, as sometimes it can feel like one is overtaking the other. I looked at some of the lessons on here for sweeping, and I found that the one in Buckeye's favourites covered the same things as what I covered with my own teacher. So you could try looking at that one and see how you get on.

@budverissimo1 Actually it is in the key. It's the 2nd in the D Minor scale, which when played over the D5 chord creates the 9th or sus2 chord feel.

If anyone was interested in the X3 tone - it was just the Cali Diamond Plate with standard cab/mic. Settings were the same but I think there was some cut on either the treble or the presence. Can't remember which. There was also the screamer on 100% Gain & Tone. Drive was at 0%.

@ComeToRejectCity Light gauge strings are better for bending, but I'm using 11's. It's more about strengthening your fingers to be able to bend the strings.

@Bludhoundz8 The first time I started liking Ibanez was when I picked up an S5470 and I was blown away because the guitar's so light, yet it sounded so full. Then I discovered that one of my all-time heroes Paul Gilbert also uses Ibanez, and I fell in love with his white PGM model. Later on I started loving maple fretboards and, really, the only company that makes these type of guitars while still making it look sexy is Ibanez :P Mine's the G310, so only a few things different here and there :P
