This was one of the routes I "lived" on as a homeless teenager. 30+ years later, it feels nostalgic as hell to see and hear the same senses via a brand new train model!

I've always had an obsession riding subway trains as a kid and I was always curious what lies in the tunnel. Fast forward, I'm 32 years old and still obsess and am fascinated with NYC trains/tunnels whenever I come to visit. I definitely would love to see more videos. @@hemmingscable It was 1981-82 for me. I'd get on at Broadway Junction and I would transfer to the C at either Nostrand Avenue or Hoyt-Schemerhorn to go to Lafayette Avenue to get to school. When I started skipping classes, I just stayed on the A. The rush hour crowd thinned out at West 4th Street, so I could then go to the front window and enjoy the view. Wow! This is a lot more fun than the cab view! To me, the train sounds of the New York Subway are not relaxing, it is an adrenaline rush, just like the city itself! Crossing over the many track switches, the third rail flashovers, the signals that change at the right time, and occasionally seeing a train passing by or rushing in the opposite direction. Although the Rockaway sequence is nice, my favorite part is when the train first enters the tunnel, then you fly past the local stops after Euclid Avenue. From Euclid all the way to Inwood-207 Street, the viewer sees the grit, grime, dirty waters, the graffiti along with hearing the traction motors of the city's newest trains taking riders to their destinations with speed and safety. I have rode on the R-1/9 trains on fan trips along the A route. I got to ride on the recently retired R-32's which ran locally and as express trains on the route. I'm an occasional visitor to the system from Pittsburgh, PA, but anytime I visit the subway, and the transit museum in Brooklyn, it is always a treat! And finally, to quote my favorite tag team wrestlers, the late and great Road Warriors Animal and Hawk: "OOOOHH! WHAT A RUSH!! Thanks for sharing a fascinating video!!!

Can't believe I'm 2 weeks late to this! Subscribed!!! Thank you for this amazing masterpiece. You just made me gain the love for trains I used to have. I first got into trains because of the RWF of the R40s on the B back around 2008-2011. With that clear view gone, both on the subways and the LIRR, it became boring watching onboard subway videos because you're just looking at tunnel lights passing by. This is a true subway POV!! I can feel it all, the adrenaline rush between every stop is so amazing. I cannot believe I sat more than an hour and watched from start to finish. The R179 propulsion finished me. The sound effects were out of this world. Thank you for making this and doing it professionally and safely. You do know you can't just stop here right? You've done unlocked a new perspective that is very very very joyful. And the subway has some areas that ASMR would be out of this world. You can really make this channel dedicated to that and get $$$ in the process. I look forward to some more videos. I suggest breaking an entire line down into 2 or 3 parts (more videos, more views, less work), then upload the full route after all the parts. The 4 line, the 7, the J and the Q would be great routes to see and hear from this perspective. Thanks again for this masterpiece. A true classic. Great way to start 2022! Edit: I just took a look through your other videos and I see you already have parts. Glad I'm not too late to the party! Yall just getting started!!

Wow, that was a fun ride. Reminds me of when most subway cars had front windows where a railfan could stare out and take in the sights, trackwork and signalling. The last cars that allowed this kind of fun were the recently retired R-32 cars. I used to always ride in the first car, from a child in the 1950s. The complexity of the trackwork is clearly shown here. Thanks for posting this awesome video, highlighting the longest subway line all the way from Far Rockaway to 207th Street. @@wtaenyc WONDERFUL!!! PLEASE PLEASE do as many lines as you can. Even if we have to contribute money for the cause. The next best thing would be to have a camera mounted outside of the Track Geometry Train lighting up all the nooks and crannies. But the NYCTA would not go along with that most likely. So, you are filling in a HUGE NEED now that the R-32's are history. Also, this will act as a railfan's best chance at seeing what lies along the tracks, seeing the ramps of flying junctions, seeing the track level changes and the way switches work! Again, please do more----many more of these videos. If you need contribution from your subscribers, I for one would think it would be worth the money to act as an incentive for you to continue filming the rails of the NYC subway system!

It is amazing the different feeling you get due to the lower perspective at bogey POV. The true natural sound is spectacular, as you hear the squelching of the wheels on curves, the clicking as you go in and out of switches, all without passenger noise. The motor accel and decel, and trumpet sounds are a symphonic enhancement. visually, being so low hives you a real sense of track gauge not triangulated from human eye height above the platform. Even seeing the world below platform is as realistic as i ever care to come, because experienced otherwuse it means i am in real bad trouble. The real danger of the third rail feels vulnerably closer, because, well, you ARE closer. Please record more videos in this style for the other lines, if you can. I’m curious about the Williamsburg Bridge lines, and more of the daylight surface stretches, but the subway views are great too, since they are time-if-day neutral in their perennial dark world with eerie incandescent pop-up reality. Wonderful job.

Thank you for these. Back when I worked in NYC in the 1960's and 1970's, I rode the entire system, including lines that don't exist anymore (Culver Shuttle, Bowling Green-South Ferry Shuttle, 3rd Av El in the Bronx) and SIRT. Now that the 2nd Av line is in service, I can' say any longer that I have ridden the entire system. Probably won't get back east to ride the new stuff, but it's too unsafe to try. Finished Chicago. Now have to finish Toronto.

Now that i, m listening to the type of subway car, and the fact that it, s throwing a lot of spark from the third rail, this has to be an r32 subway, an old workhorse first introduced into the transit system in the 70, s. This is a new way to see where you are going, again cool video.

The (A) train is one of the subway lines in the New York City subway system. It is designated by the letter "A" and is one of the busiest and longest subway lines in the city. The (A) train primarily serves the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn, connecting various neighborhoods and providing transportation for millions of commuters and tourists. The (A) train operates 24/7, providing round-the-clock service to passengers. It starts its route in northern Manhattan, at the 207th Street station in Inwood, and travels south through neighborhoods such as Washington Heights, Harlem, and the Upper West Side. It then enters Midtown Manhattan, making stops at major transit hubs like Times Square-42nd Street and Penn Station. Continuing its journey, the (A) train crosses into Brooklyn via the Manhattan Bridge, offering breathtaking views of the city skyline along the way. In Brooklyn, the train stops at popular destinations like Jay Street-MetroTech, Fulton Street, and High Street, serving neighborhoods such as Downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn Heights. The (A) train is known for its express service, which means it skips certain stations during peak hours, allowing for faster travel times. However, during off-peak hours, it operates as a local train, making all stops along its route. Throughout its journey, the (A) train provides convenient access to several notable attractions and landmarks. In Manhattan, passengers can easily reach the iconic Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History, and the vibrant neighborhoods of Harlem. In Brooklyn, the train provides access to the Brooklyn Bridge, Barclays Center, and the scenic Brooklyn Promenade. The (A) train is equipped with modern features and amenities to ensure a comfortable ride for passengers. This includes air conditioning, digital displays indicating upcoming stops, and designated areas for passengers with disabilities. Like any subway line, the (A) train may experience occasional delays or service changes due to maintenance work, signal issues, or other factors. It is advisable for passengers to stay updated on any service alerts or announcements to plan their journeys accordingly. Overall, the (A) train is an integral part of the New York City subway system, offering a reliable and efficient transportation option for residents and visitors alike. Its extensive route, express service, and accessibility to various neighborhoods and attractions make it a vital lifeline for commuters and a convenient way to explore the diverse cityscape of New York.

I'm going to hazard a guess, but it appears that where the G tunnel intersects at Hoyt-Schemerhorn is where this subtle separation between tunnel walls shows up at 39:32 (actually, as early as 39:21) to the left. You can see, very briefly, playback it at 0.25, a tunnel rising that seems to be the G;s track. I could be wrong.
