A lot of those 4 star old hotels in Manhattan( at least the few I saw down there) used to be suburban mansions that were all converted into hotels or apartments/condos when the former rich folks either died out or went bust during the depression. The huge private rooms that these buildings used to have were subdivided into 4 to 6 small hotel rooms in some cases.

Let me first say that as a visitor to NYC you guys deserve the best. Being NYC should not be an excuse for an overpriced room that does not at least deliver in some way. Being from Las Vegas a major tourist destination you guys know first hand that if Vegas delivered like that it would be unacceptable. For people that live in NYC like I did for a long time, living in a small apartment is part of the experience there. I spent very little time in my apartment, there is always... always... always something to go out and do in NYC. The only meal I really ever made in my apartment was cereal. When you live there you know the places that save you money, and you just eat out a lot.

My mom was from New York City, the Bronx to be exact.What you are describing was in Manhatten, which is the priciest stuff in the whole city! If you want to save money, get a hotel outside of Manhatten and take the trains in, LIRR, Metro North, or the Subway. I've never stayed in Manhatten, but have spent a great deal of time there. Movies, shows, shopping, you can't beat the place. Seen all the sights, saw the Empire State Building, and visited the company that my mom used to work for. I was lucky to have an aunt who lived in Yonkers and I would take the train in, or if I really wanted to save money, I would walk down to the tip of the Subway, since it is a lot cheaper than the commuter trains. About the only thing I have never done there is Times Square at New Years. Still on the bucket list.

I agree with the food in Vegas. Vic and Anthony's steakhouse at the Golden Nugget. One of the best Prime Rib Steaks I ever had! Au Gratin potatoes were awesome as well! One thing I use to get here in Missouri but now have to get it in Vegas is Del Taco. Cheese Quesadilla is the best thing on the planet!

Man for $500 a night I would have been so so pissed. That room I would not have paid $50 a night for. So damn unbelievable, I may have asked for a refund and slept on the streets with the dealers and fake designer people. It would have looked like a cartoon where my head and face got super red and blown my entire head off. I can not fathom not having a table or even a chair or desk in my room which is standard for 98% of any hotel I have ever stayed at, any where else in the country. Thanks for the info, I will NEVER EVER stay there and might get a room 30 minutes outside of the city or something. I can not imagine most of the hotels there are like this or I would hope not.
@weirdmatter6 ай бұрын
Where can you get any hotel room for $50 a night 🌙 😆
@Rocky-N-Angel6 ай бұрын
@@weirdmatter You can't which is my point. That room should not be $500 and I did not say you can find a room for $50 a night I said I would not pay $50 a night for that particular room. I never once said you can get a room for $50 a night. LMAO. I am not trying to be rude but comprehensive reading is elementary, and putting words in some ones statements that was never said is a bit rude and needless TBH. But that was supposed to be what I think that room is worth as I would rather sleep in my SUV which appears to be bigger than that room. I also travel a bit and pay $69 a night for rooms which is not far off of $50 however that is besides the point and does not come close to what I stated above. I stand by my words, it is not worth $50 a night for something the size of my bedroom closet or my SUV.

Same thing CNN does, change your wording so they get a thrill of putting someone down. Typical troll, huh
@Rocky-N-Angel6 ай бұрын
@@garyslentzii2796 Just annoying more than anything TBH. I rarely comment on YT or any social media, but every single time I do, This happens literally 95% of the time I make even the simplest of comments, someone always twists my words and it really does aggravate me. I know I should not allow it to. I do my best to let things roll off my shoulder, but putting words in my mouth is the one thing I just can not stand really. I think it is corrosive and so many people and mainstream media (which I try to stay away from) but my wife and kids watch mainstream media, does this all the time and it is just annoying and hard for me to deal with. That is why I always reply to those specific comments and reply's. Have a great weekend/day brother. Be kind to everyone possible, as we never know what someone is dealing with or going through. Take care my friend. You are so correct on the troll aspect, there are so many.

@@garyslentzii2796 No one was putting anyone down chill now you're sounding like CNN jk. These are new york city prices, your not getting a tent on the sidewalk for $50 a night is all I meant. However i do agree $500 a night was a bit high for that particular room. However the average size apartment in Manhattan is around 700 square feet, at a cost of $4000 to $5000. NYC isn't cheap you can't stay anywhere in NYC for $50 bucks a night! I wasn't trying to put anybody down.
