Sorry to hear about your bagel experience. NYC generally has incredible bagels. I lived there for 7 years and always had amazing bagels, but I always went for a more traditional bagel. My bagel order was always either a sesame seed bagel with scallion cream cheese or a breakfast bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese. NYC has so many incredible restaurants, but I would recommend avoiding the tourist heavy areas when it comes to food.

Kevin had a regular bagel, but he had the same feelings I did. For the calories, I would prefer a doughnut.

Tami, I'm gonna be brutally honest (not trying to be mean here at all), you ordered the worst bagel you could order! Rainbow bagels are nasty. Nobody eats them here. 😂 And the flavored cream cheeses aren't sweetened like frosting; the oreos and sprinkles and whatnot are just mix-ins. They are what you said... Just flashy. Go to a non-touristy/non-instagramy place, and they won't have any weird flavors like that. With that being said however, that bagel place just sounds bad. A good bagel is supposed to be chewy, but not tough. They shouldn't make you feel like you're chewing on a teething ring. I 100% understand if you're not a bagel person (I'm not really a donut person, after all), and I commend you for spending the time and money to try one, but like I said yesterday... Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a fresh Jersey bagel... If you're willing to keep an open mind, YOU GOTTA. Bagels won't ever be sweet enough to your liking, so it sounds like you'd enjoy them way more pushed on the savory side 😁 And I know you like bacon... Taylor ham is 10000x better than bacon. But again, prove me wrong if you must.. At least try Taylor ham. It's still good on a roll 😂

Bagels have always been too much bread at once for me lol. If I want a sweet cream cheese, I’d do strawberry cream cheese. It’s actually sweet and goes well with a plain bagel. Kinda like cheesecake filling. I honestly prefer cheap bagel thins from the grocery store. Better ratio for me and makes a good snack or sandwich :)

Sorry guys, not sure if I’ve had liberty bagels. Can’t say every bagel in nyc is good I’ve had my share of bad ones, but when you get a good ones it’s amazing personally. I usually stick to basics and get scallion cream cheese with a everything or sesame bagel.

I am surprised they didn't have a sign at the church saying "Funeral service in progress - The family welcomes you to look around the church during the service or take a seat. We hope you love the cathedral as much as we do". I think the mortifying part would be that you were offending the family or that the family wasn't aware there would be people wandering.

After watching enough of your videos, it's obvious that Tammy would choose a donut over a bagel anyday so we will prob never convince you to like them, but NYC DOES have the best bagels I've ever put in my mouth. 😉 Over a decade ago when I was there, the place to go was Murray's Bagels down in Chelsea...or any traditional NY deli (which I can't believe you did not go to on your trip!). Some of the best soup sandwiches and salads you can get would be found there. In addition I am surprised to see you never tried eating at a food cart on the street. They offer some of the best and most flavorful chicken and rice dishes for the best value... but then I guess if it's 90° out I wouldn't want to eat on the street and people watch - I would have to take that back to the air conditioning of the hotel room.

When you visited FAO Schwarz I was surprised to see it located in Rockefeller Center. I'm glad lad to see the store exists since I didn't think they still were in business. FAO Schwarz wasn't always at Rockefeller Center. It used to be on 5th Avenue. It was originally in one location for 55 years and then later moved to the GM building which is located behind the glass cube Apple Store on 5th Avenue. I was in that location a long time ago and it used to be a lot bigger. Over the years it changed ownership several times since the early 2000s. As time went on, similar to Toys 'R' Us who even owned FAO for a little while, toy stores started dying out in favor of Amazon and other retailers selling toys like Walmart and Target.

Yes, to clear up this bagel argument, lol - Tami and family got an unfortunate example of bagels. Bagels are bread, in a round shape, with a hole in the middle. Old style, true bagels, especially when fresh, are really delicious and I've NO DOUBT Tami, that you would have enjoyed it, with butter or cream cheese. It's sad for me, as an ex-New Yorker, that you have sworn off them for life, lol - because to my mind you have not really tasted a good one yet. They supposedly sell them in chain supermarkets, but NO, they are not sold there!! Those factory made ones, like Thomas', or Arnold's brand, are nothing but lame, flavorless bread shaped like a bagel. They are nearly inedible. It's all about the flour, the method of baking, the temperature, etc. Just like not all prepackaged, pre-sliced bread sold in the supermarket tastes the same, they vary in flavor and texture. Some are inedible, some are delicious. Same with bread products made in a retail shop.

I would have been mortified as well touring while a funeral was going on. I understand it’s a tourist location, however it would still be hard. You’re right, there is always one. 😂 Tami your bagel “looked”amazing. It’s unfortunate you had a bad experience . There are good bagel shops. If you have a bagel shop in your area you should visit and compare to NY. I’m glad you had a good, cooler weather day. We need t-shirts saying “I baptize it”! 😂 Great recap!

Before we walked in, Kevin said, "Someone will leave a comment that we should have visited such-and-such bagel shop instead of this one." I got that exact comment yesterday ;) I know you aren't saying that at all. We just know that people have very strong opinions about certain foods. I don't think I'm a bagel person. I would personally never choose to spend that many calories on a bagel when I can have a Krispy Kreme for the same amount. I would choose other bread in general over a bagel. I would much rather have a biscuit with sausage.

@@TamiDunn I was just saying it’s a shame you at least didn’t like any part of it. The cream at least should have tasted better. Bagels can be an acquired texture. My comment about a local shop was purely a suggestion. 😊
