The three biggest differences which puts London ahead for me: 1) Lower crime rate. 2) Over 2,000 years of history and architecture. 3) 64% of London is green space VS 16% of NYC

@@ellxe-lj2om Here are the countrie with the highest crime rate as per The World Population Review. You will see that the UK has the 66th crime rate out of 140; which makes it below average. Don't believe the exagerations you hear on social media. It has a lower crime rate than France, Italy, Sweden, United States, New Zealand and Belgium: COUNTRY RATE Venezuela 82.1 Papua New Guinea 80.4 Afghanistan 78.4 Haiti 78.3 South Africa 75.5 Honduras 74.3 Trinidad and Tobago 70.8 Syria 69.1 Guyana 68.8 Peru 67.5 Jamaica 67.5 Somalia 66.7 Brazil 66.1 Nigeria 65.8 Angola 65.8 Namibia 64.6 Burundi 64.2 Argentina 64 Mozambique 63.7 Bangladesh 62.5 El Salvador 62.1 Bolivia 62 Puerto Rico 61.7 United States Virgin Islands 61.2 Djibouti 61.1 China 60.8 Ecuador 60.7 Zimbabwe 60.6 Libya 60.4 Bahamas 60.3 Guatemala 60.1 Chad 58.7 Ivory Coast 57.5 Kenya 56.8 Fiji 56.7 Uganda 55.9 Maldives 55.2 France 54.6 Tajikistan 54.4 Mexico 54.1 Kyrgyzstan 53.9 Costa Rica 53.7 Mongolia 53.5 Burkina Faso 53 Botswana 52.6 Belize 52.3 Uruguay 51.9 Malaysia 51.6 Ethiopia 51.4 Algeria 51.4 Belarus 51.4 North Korea 50.7 Paraguay 50.6 Nicaragua 50.2 Myanmar 50 Iran 49.8 United States 49.2 Belgium 48.9 Sweden 48.1 Mauritius 48.1 Zambia 47.9 Italy 47.3 Morocco 47.1 New Zealand 47.1 Egypt 47 United Kingdom 46.9 Ukraine 46.8 Australia 46.7 Barbados 46.6 Greece 46.5 Lebanon 46.5 Kazakhstan 46.4 Ireland 46.1 Iraq 46 Indonesia 45.9 Sudan 45.5 Albania 45.4 Cambodia 44.8 Tunisia 44.7 India 44.4 Vietnam 44.1 Ghana 44.1 Panama 44.1 Pakistan 42.8 Philippines 42.6 Bosnia and Herzegovina 42.5 Sri Lanka 42.2 Palestine 41.2 Jordan 40.7 North Macedonia 40.7 Turkey 40.2 Malta 40 Russia 39.7 Serbia 38.5 Tanzania 38.3 Germany 38 Nepal 37.5 Bulgaria 37.5 Latvia 37.3 Montenegro 36.9 Spain 35.8 Luxembourg 34 Hungary 33.8 Lithuania 33.2 Romania 32.8 Kuwait 32.6 Cyprus 32.6 Norway 32.5 Cuba 32.2 Israel 32.2 Azerbaijan 31.7 Uzbekistan 31.3 Slovakia 31.3 Portugal 30.7 Poland 29.2 Brunei 29.2 Austria 27.6 Rwanda 27.3 Czech Republic 26.8 Denmark 26.6 Finland 26.5 Netherlands 26.2 Croatia 26.1 Chile 25.8 South Korea 25.3 Iceland 25 Switzerland 24.9 Monaco 24.7 Estonia 24.5 Saudi Arabia 24.3 Slovenia 24.2 Bahrain 24.2 Singapore 23.1 Japan 22.9 Hong Kong 21.7 Armenia 21.6 Oman 19.6 Taiwan 16.1 United Arab Emirates 14.6 Qatar 14.3

Theres a good few inaccuracies in this video. Londons crime rate is significantly lower than new yorks. London only has 12 deaths per MILLION people compared to 10 per 100,000 in new york. Also london has significantly less rainfall and more sunny days and higher winter temperatures than new york. Remember Calis france is only 105 miles away from london

And on the full version, Infographics say it's cheaper to get a university degree in America, which is only true if you're an overseas student getting your degree in the UK. If you're a native, UK tuition caps at under £10k per year (though it's free in Scotland); some places in the US charge that per semester, not to mention the course lasts 4 years in America, versus 3 years in the UK.

You are wrong about the sunny days and especially in the winter there is much more sun in New York and you get 800 hours more sun a year.

I lived in London for many years and also lived just outside New York for a year (so went into the city quite a lot during that time). London is vast. There are so many different boroughs and they all have a different vibe. I moved out of London in the late 00s and at that time the bar and club scene was amazing. Loads of iconic clubs were open until 5 or 6am. I think a lot of those clubs have shut down now as licensing laws changed. I hear some people moan about how London shuts down too early but I don't ever remember having that problem. We would drink in bars and then head off to a club at 11pm-midnigh-ish and stay until morning. Maybe you just had to know where to go. New York can feel a bit claustrophobic. It is exciting and buzzy but can feel too much at times and I agree that it is a lot easier if you have quite a bit of money. It's great for short amounts of time but I couldn't live there long term. You feel like you can breathe a bit more in London with Hyde Park, Regents Park, Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill etc. They are both stupidly expensive though. Rent is crazy in London now too.

I live in London now and have definitely noticed a change. I never felt places closed that early here pre-Brexit and pre-Covid but now with the astronomical rents and fewer people coming into London... places are definitely closing earlier. I would say even compared to other large UK cities, places in London close early now. My regular bars in London close 23:00 - 00:00, whereas in Leeds they won't close before 01:00. Food places are similar. It's a sad but real change.

London = hot summers (some years can be inconsistent), heatwaves / droughts reasonably common. London still has higher humidity than New York, so the temperatures feel hotter in London. London can be beautifully sunny at times during any season, although also unpredictable on occasions. Spring & autumn / fall can be hot some years. London has generally much warmer winters than New York. London has less than half the rainfall of New York in an average year. Snow is rare in London. New York is guaranteed heavy snowfall. It can even snow up to late spring in New York. Blizzards, freezing rain storms in New York's winters or early spring / late fall still likely. Weather in a short period of time is not the same as longer term climate. London is expected to eventually have a similar climate as Barcelona. Overall, London still has an arguably better climate than New York & especially so going forward.

London has a wetter winter but the rest of the year New York receives more rain, leading New York to receive about double the amount of rain as London in a given year.

I'm a native New Yorker who has lived for half his life in London. The two cities share similarities (world cities, diverse, great culture and offer serious careers). The differences are that NY offers more choice in terms of consumer choices and London has more history. Neither is better than the other.

I'm from London and have visited NYC several times. I lived/worked in LA for a year. London and NYC have a surprisingly similar energy - but LA was VERY different to both - very Big Lebowski. Although I lived in Santa Monica - which was full of Brits! All 3 cities are special tho! I loved the weather in LA! Except the Valley! Too hot for a Limey!

Hey Guys. I'm London based. Central London is roughly 5 square miles so yes you can walk it. In the suburbs of London where I live (about 13 miles from central London) I live in an outer area of a town where you can walk to the local shops or park. I can also hop on the tube 5 minutes away to central London. I used to think New York had more skyscrapers than London but think London is catching up as they seem to be building up everywhere!

I live in London and I have been to NYC 3 times. I've always said, that when in NYC I don't feel any different from being home, I don't get that culture shock, of course there are some differences, however when I was in Philadelphia, I felt like I was in America and I loved it. I felt the culture, people took more notice of me being English too.

"London" consists of 32 Boroughs that have nothing in common with each other apart from the "London Borough Of" prefix attached to them. You cannot stick the same label on 8 million odd people, people north of the Thames appear to have a different mindset to those south of the river. Areas to the west are different to those in the east. The suburbs are close knit communities for the most part and most people who have "issues with London" really will never be able to appreciate that.

It depends on definition. The London Metropolitan Area has a population of 14.8million, Paris 13.03million. Moscow is an outlier with a population of 21.7million but that includes Moscow Oblast with an area of 48200km² (area larger than Denmark) compared with Paris 18000km² and London 8380km². The information in this post is generally inaccurate.

The Normans to be the last people to succesfully invade England? I would agree if he had said 'conquered England'. But there was an invasion in Chatham in 1667 by the Dutch. The Dutch had a brand new unit called the 'marines'. and this was their first mission ever. There invasion was without the intent to conquer England but was still an invasion. A few years later I think the Dutch stadhouder (cityholder) became the king of England by marriage. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raid_on_the_Medway
