The MTA's latest plan for congestion pricing is getting some bad reviews from commuters, lawmakers and small business owners, and the new toll could impact people who don't even drive. CBS New York's John Dias has the details.

$15 a day is $3700 a year. On what planet is that reasonable?

If it is truly to prevent congestion, Why are there tolls at all after 8PM? Why? Because its not. Its a money grab by the most wasteful & inefficient transit agency in the world, The MTA.

Manhattan begged us back during COVID. Now that we’re back, it’s tax time? MTA collects the tax. Better subways don’t solve the root problem of inadequate access to public transportation in NJ. So the tax payers do not see the benefits. This only accelerates the inevitable move to WFH which kills Manhattan.

How bout we don't tolerate this by avoiding Manhattan and the pay toll. Tell the MTA to f off.

98% of people who frequent Manhattan, don’t actually drive to begin with. Now, those who live in White Manhattan?! Be sure they’ll get a full exemption.

Pass the cost on double to the businesses then they pass it on to the end consumer. If you can live in Manhatten youll pay lots more.

People are supposed to complain about this and things cannot be raised more than $1 to $5 dollars depending on certain things, food and other things. I said this already and so have others years ago. I also didn't add that silly smiley face emoji, enon randomly came up as a harassment lie. Hardanger also came up randomly while typing, ruling also

NJ can't sue other state for what they got going on lol 😂😂
@eldondedon78847 ай бұрын
Actually it can and should. NJ is a suburb of NYC. They share agencies like the Port Authority that governs all tunnels and bridges and many transit in and out of NYC and NJ. Picture a neighbor making laws that affect your well-being or NJ charging an additional Tolls to cross into NJ. That is what the congestion toll is. Points to consider: 1)There are over 8 million people thar get taxed up to 6 percent plus in NYC those same people get taxed by the state and by the federal government. Why this matters. There are just over 20 million people in New York State. That means more taxes money is pulled from NYC per square foot than New York State yet New York State won't fund any MTA needs. The federal government falls short of this as well. 2) the MTA is like a mafia and they have mismanaged funds for years. Will they actually accurately allocate these new "funding" to make needed update to nycs transit system or are they just going to use it as kick backs and inflated top management bonuses . 3) why just lower manhattan why not double toll at every NYC entry point. 4) all any of your additional thoughts and arguments for or against

Well at least we don't have to deal with racist republican leading these press conferences. We got Dems to actually make life harder but they are good because they don't say anything that can be twisted as racist. Congression tax which will lead to higher food prices to go along those 5 cent extra per paper bags. This is what tax and spend looks like. The tax never helps the cause. its never enough. It's never ending with increases upon increases as time passes.

For those of you complaining about food prices going up, NONE of you shop at D’Agostino, Zabar’s, Westside or Grace’s Market. How can a Bronx gallon of milk be affected by prices in the Upper East Side or Tribeca?! FOH

If the truck that makes deliveries in Manhattan during that week, they will increase their delivery fees to everyone; just like the same way FedEx and UPS increased their shipping costs and added a fuel surcharge when gas was $5 a gallon

@@enarush1 Everyone living in that radius. No way, me living in Baychester, can be impacted by White Manhattan prices. Besides, everything in that area is a bit extra than the rest of the City (about an extra $0.25 or $0.50). I know what you mean and those who’ll exploit that first?! Dominicans and Indians. 🤣🤣 “My friend, Manhattan tolls!” while living all the way in the Heights, Inwood or St. Albans.
@user-bf8um5oj9q7 ай бұрын
Many trucks have to pass through Manhattan. They can avoid deliveries and skip Manhattan but they will then pay tolls on the Tri-boro. I personally avoid shopping in Manhattan as prices are already ridiculous. Even with tolls, I pay less shopping in NJ than shopping in Manhattan. If I didn't have a car, I'll be out of luck stuck shopping in Manhattan.

I went to Walmart in NJ. I paid a toll going. Then two tolls coming back. I'm glad NJ is fighting this but in reality, they have no room to talk. I avoided many trips down south because of NY/NJ tolls. I rather go up north and pay a toll in the single digit.
