New York Giants (7-2) travel cross country to play the (5-4) L.A. Rams. Interesting 1st half depending on who you're rooting for.

Summerall & Madden in their prime years. They work so well together. Gene Tunney is the prototype referee too. Thanks for sharing.

A common backdrop during their history. In fact at this time there had not even been a single terrorist attack on them.

From 1988-1990 the Giants went 25-13 in the regular season. Of those losses, five were to the Eagles, three to the 49ers, and two to the Rams (not counting the '89 playoff game). So three teams accounted for 10 of their losses during that stretch. Wow.
@ericdavis16364 жыл бұрын
Yup the Eagles had there number. So did the Rams. The 49ers beat us in the regular season but couldn't beat us in the playoffs in the mid to late 80's. Giants played the 49ers 5 times in the playoffs from 81-90. Winning 3 of those contests 2 at home and one on the road in the Championship game in 1990.
@rib6204 жыл бұрын
The Giants should have beat the Eagles in those games, Philly always got the ball to bounce their way against the Giants then just like they do now. They just didn't match up well against that Ram team for some reason. I hated Jim Everett and Flipper Anderson with a passion

@@rib620 ...that great Rams' O line neutralized the Giants defense..but don't forget, although the Rams never won a SB, they gave everyone in the league a hard time for a very long time....for 25 consecutive seasons, from the inception of the super bowl era in 1966, to the end of the 1989 season, the Los Angeles Rams had the 3rd highest win total in all of pro football...that could easily be one of the most remarkable runs in NFL history for an organization that didn't win the SB...

WRONG. They went 35-13, not 25-13. Fix your typo.

I don't remember this game despite watching it in person as a kid. What I remember from that season is the Rams kicking the Giants butts in New York in a playoff game upset.

Same here lol!

Kicking their butts in the playoffs? The game went into O.T. Research your facts first before blabbing away. If Simms didn't throw that INT right before the end of the first half leading to a Rams TD, then the Giants win that game.
@cedericocosantorini80133 жыл бұрын
@@optimus2g You have a point: perhaps they didn't "kick their butts", although they won. On the other hand, if Simms didn't throw that INT, then the rest of the game would have been completely different, and no one knows who would have won. You just can't speculate over "ifs", because when you modify the events, you change the following sequence of events, which now directly proceed from that modification. I hope you see my point. Anyway, that game is over, and Rams won it. In controversy, but also in stunning fashion.
@optimus2g3 жыл бұрын
@@cedericocosantorini8013 The Giants had the better personnel. Anyone who knew the teams will tell you. The Giants won the SB the next year and the Rams....well, they went back to being the Lambs. The Giants legitimately kicked their asses in LaLa land the next year 31 to 7 and went on the win the Super Bowl.
