Best uniforms ever, rams should be wearing these uniforms instead of that watered down garbage they wear now.

This rivlary in the 80s was weird there was no homefield advantage the Rams won 6 out of 10 at Candlestick and the 49ers won 8 out of 10 at Anaheim.

Kevin Greene to Montana : "I'll be coming for you !" Montana : "I'll be there !" 9 sacks.

And then Montana won another SB a month later while Greene was sitting on the couch!

4.5 for Kevin himself. Rams won this battle, but they lost the war.

49ers was not trying to win. To say the least. They saved their energies for their 3rd SB journey. While the Rams had no choice but to spend their strength. Naturally, the Rams lost early in a do-or-die situation.
@toomuchdrivetothrive4 ай бұрын
Walsh likely threw this game. The 49ers had been on a hot streak but had been burned the year before with a 13-2 record and no 1 seed and then fell flat. They beat the Rams 48-0 in week 16 the year before and then lost to the Vikings in the Div Round. He wanted them to lose a game to make sure they stayed sharp. They had nothing to play for. It worked. They won the SB.

This team won the SB ? There offensive line is trash AF. No wonder Momtana was always hurt 😂

Nah! Joe was a bit on the fragile side. Other than being a cheater, being fragile is another difference between Joe the GOAT and Brady the proven cheater.

The infamous “lay down like dogs” game. You could see it in their body language that the Niners were playing to lose just to keep the Giants out of the playoffs for a year (the Giants had beaten the Niners in the playoffs in ‘85 and ‘86). Worked like a charm. The 49ers rolled through the playoffs (crushing the Vikings and Bears 34-9 and 28-3 respectively) and won the Super Bowl. Honestly, the Giants missing the playoffs was their own fault; it was their division to lose and they literally played themselves out of contention against a 7-win Jets team.
@benthekeeshond545Ай бұрын
Even if the NY criminals got to the playoffs, our 49ers would have kicked the criminals' butt.
@calfong1030Ай бұрын
It was a strategic move to screw the Giants out of the playoffs because the Giants were the more physical team. That is not to say we were afraid of them, but we didn't need to deal with their physicality in the playoffs before playing the Bears in the snow in the NFC championship.

Throughout the '80s, the Niners beat the Rams most times at Anaheim and the Rams won most of them at Candlestick. Crazy!
@alanaoun741510 ай бұрын
The 1988, 1989, 49ers can thank the Rams for their back to back SB championships because both years the Rams we're able to eliminate the Giants in different circumstances.

If the Giants had beat the 49ers in week 2, they would have made the playoffs. Oops.
@R.POliver10 ай бұрын
Doesn’t make sense, since the 49ers beat the Giants in 88 and 89.
@kidmack355625 күн бұрын
And beat them in the 81, 84, 93? or 94? post seasons along with the others mentioned. The Forty Niners and their fans CAN thank the NY giants and Mara for being stubborn and not getting a better QB than sims, and being too afraid or careless to discipline taylor regarding his narcotics problems. Thank you NY football GIANTS!

Wow! Thank you so much for uploading this hidden gem! There were murmurs that the 49ers lost this game on purpose because it prevented the Giants from making the playoffs 😅Did you by any chance find the 4th quarter of the 49ers - Lions game?
@vernonrobinson16856 ай бұрын
That was Phil Simms with that nonsense
@webstedge10992 ай бұрын
@@vernonrobinson1685 True, Simms was probably butthurt that his team couldn’t beat a mediocre Jets team-one that would fall off a cliff and go 4-12 the following season. If the Giants hadn’t coughed up the NFC East to the Eagles in the Jets game (after spending 11 weeks in first place) they wouldn’t have had to rely on the 49ers to get them in.
@benthekeeshond545Ай бұрын
@@webstedge1099 Even the NY criminals got into the playoffs, our 49ers would have demolished the criminals the same way they did to the Vikings and Bears. The only danger was the criminals were out to hurt Joe. They knew that was the only way they could beat the 49ers. Till now, I couldn't understand why the 49ers coaching staff didn't respond by ordering the 49ers to injure the criminals.

I wathed this debacle at the time. I remember that useless piece of s*** Jim Evertt literally sack himself. Thank gawd times have changed, The Forty Whiners just blew *another* Stuper Bowl. Congratulations Kansas City Chiefs! I'm a Rams fan since 1970, SF fans, see ya next year. I'll tell Sean McVay to say howdy to whomever is the SF coach next year.

You have Everettitis. This isn't the 1989 NFC title game.

I admit the 49ers became bums after the departure of our most valuable member of the 49ers franchise. Some as.....oles took the 49ers away from Eddie and turned the team into a mediocre football team and won nothing ever since. Almost 30 years. How many 30 years are there in a lifetime? I would like to thank Eddie for the 5 SBs he brought to the Greater SF Bay Area!

Steve Young, what a Joe Montana wannabe!
@cedericocosantorini801310 ай бұрын
Young was substiantal improvement from Wimpy Joe !
@jmill31474 ай бұрын
@@cedericocosantorini8013 Not at all. Young was a choke artist and turnover machine come playoff time. They had to buy him a ring in '94 by mortgaging their future to bring in a ton of talent because Young could never show up for the big games.. thanks to that mortgaging in '94 SF ended up in salary cap hell for years to come.
@benthekeeshond545Ай бұрын
@@jmill3147 So true! Young was a narcissist. He played for his stats to make himself look good. If his team engaged in a close-scoring game, 90% of the time he would find a way to lose. But the 49ers had themselves to blame. In a full 1992 season, Young the choker dug a deep hole for the 49ers and Bono took over the QB position and won every game and barely missed the playoffs. The following year, they traded away Bono and kept the choker. I am just a fan and know very little about the 49ers organization. But both offensive/defensive linemen mostly favored Bono. A few were openly against the choker. Yet, the coaching staff kept the choker. The 49ers would have won at least 1 or 2 more SBs if Bono took over the QB job from Joe the GOAT.
@benthekeeshond545Ай бұрын
@@cedericocosantorini8013 Joe was a bit fragile but Young was exactly the opposite of Joe The GOAT. Joe demonstrated throughout his career that he could win close games or come from behind to win big games. Young the choker lost almost every close game and was never able to go toe to toe with the opposing team. Young's stat looks good because he loved to complete more and more passes even the score was 100 to 0 in favor of his team.
@jmill3147Ай бұрын
@@benthekeeshond545 I have to wonder what Steve Youngs record was when losing by 10 or more points in a game. All I remember about Young was if you got him down by more than 1 score the game basically out of reach. Also, the idea that Young was not fragile is ludicrous as well as he missed a lot of games between 96-98. I preferred Bono at the time and still do. Never been a fan of Young or the way he has always marketed himself.
