If Lindor has any back pain in Tuesday I would NOT play him. Acuna has filled in well and it gives Lindor more rest. If Acuna struggles Tuesday and the Mets lose.....then I would consider letting Lindor play on Wednesday. The problem is that if he comes back too soon he very well may aggravate the injury and keep him unavailable for the playoffs. They SHOULD be able to lock up a playoff spot without Lindor in the lineup.
@MadisonGmanАй бұрын
THIS. Acuna is on fire, so why risk it? plus he'll want to show out against his brother and his brother's team

2 things that scare me: •Alvarez not ever being able to block a ball in the dirt, giving free bases •teams running at will on bullpen & Alvarez
@anthonyreyes8868Ай бұрын
Putting catchers on one knee really hinders their blocking ability and Alvarez isn’t the most mobile guy to begin with

Good stuff. Only worry with Edwin is the stolen bases but that is mitigated if he doesn't walk hitters. Needs to clean that up.. but he's still the Mets best guy to go to

I am an absolute nervous wreck 😰 during Mets games but it’s mostly contained on the inside. Almost like a seasoned manager. I tend to only celebrate 🎉 once the victory is literally complete because of the ingrained pessimism that I and many Mets fans tend to have about our team and because winning is all that matters anyway. I tend to be more tense when we are on the field since pitching can keep us in the game or lose the game for us just by not giving us a chance to win. May GOD help us. LGM❤.
@MadisonGmanАй бұрын
this is by far the best Mets podcast. there are lots of them, but Evan probably knows the Mets as good as Gary and Howie. I have a request for Carlos Mendoza.....please let Alvarez catch all three of these games in ATL. we don't need to see Luis Torrens unless it's an emergency
@runrin_Ай бұрын
not mentioning 880/howie rose as a broadcast alternative during the playoffs bummed me out. howie is a legend and his pbp is excellent. keith raad, while not as amazing as wayhe randazzo, is still wonderful.
@pingamalingaАй бұрын
Howie is the definition of legend. Love Howie. That guy knows Mets baseball like no one else. Its uncanny what that man has is in head regarding The Mets.

Looking back on that throw to third base from Alvarez.....I kind of thought about something afterwards.....he threw it right to the bag....why wasn't Vientos at the bag to catch that throw??? I'm wondering if Vientos was more to blame for that ball bouncing off the bag ....if he's on the third base bag that would have been a good throw.

@runrin_Ай бұрын
with lindor, it seems to me that you are balancing rustiness and health. you want him to be as effective as possible during the playoffs, and finding the sweet spot where you maximize health and rust is an impossible challenge with a lot of luck involved
@mpound97Ай бұрын
It would be the Mets to have steamrolled the competition to get into the wild card race only for our best player to get hurt at the time we needed him most...smh. Thankfully, and luckily, Acuña has stepped in to take off some of that pressure, Nimmo is starting to pick it back up, Alvarez has got it going. We have a deep lineup even without Lindor and McNeil but we need Frankie back.
@PanadorianАй бұрын
With JD struggling maybe lindor can come in as DH ? The bats there and Acuna can stay at short where he’s been pretty good.

I know this may be thinking outside of the box, but why not move the Thursday game to a neutral site like Tampa Bay or Baltimore, since both teams are on the road this week and their stadiums (to my knowledge) are available. Now if the Mets win the first two games of the series, it makes that third game potentially less important, unless Arizona continues to lose and the Braves are still in the hunt for the third slot come this weekend. Any thoughts?

i hate playing in Atlanta. the weather ALWAYS fucks with us there. we are absolutely going to have to endure a Monday game that could be essentially a one game playoff. maximum fucking agita, that's how it goes for us. that being said, I think the D-backs are going to blow it and it'll be the Mets and Braves 5-6 and that game could wind up being for playoff position

It’s baseball…one player simply doesn’t matter that much in small samples…the examples are endless. Some guy you’ve never heard of will hit .400 with 3 bombs while a HOFer will hit .130 with 19 K’s. Hopefully Lindor is ready to go but they can accomplish anything with or without him. He’s not Patrick Mahomes or Nikola Jokic. He’s one guy in a lineup.
@33moneyballАй бұрын
I’m taking 100% Acuna over hurt Lindor….he’s not some magisterial power bat like Ohtani or Judge. His game depends on the ability to impact defensively, on the bases, and at the plate. He’s not a physically imposing player.
