Beautiful. Hit me in the feels. Used to sing this a lot in my room alone when I spent a few months studying in Oxford, UK. Never once felt like home. Was missing my family every day. Never felt right. Thinking of trying again to fly the nest, but it's hard to leave when your family need you. But then again, "I know, I have to go away..." Love the songs on your channel. Lovely cover! I really like to play along with this video. This was the first Jim Croce song I ever listened to and a month later he and Maury are added onto my list of favorite musicians. Oddly enough, he was appealing because something about his vocal phrasing and character reminded me of Paul Simon (who happened to have a song called "New York Is My Home" LOL), so I was drawn to the familiarity. I came from KZbin shorts that you did of Croce and then explored your channel and I really admire your voice and playing. Your voice is beautifully unique yet true to the cover which is the main thing I admire in covers. Keep it up!

Thank you! No preamp necessary with the Focusrite. They give enough clean gain and are on the approved list. When i livestream thru a mixer a use a FETHead preamp for it.

The harmonica is the key of A major diatonic for this song. It starts with a I use Lee Oskar 10 hole harmonicas and they have been great.

It was pretty awesome to think right where I was sitting in his kitchen was where a lot of his most famous songs were written, including New York's Not My Home.

@@justinburnettemusic yeah, I really enjoyed it, I mean it's just an old farmhouse but it's so cool to think of all the history of music there in that house. I live about an hour north from there so it was a nice short trip for me. Are you close at all? It wasn't just Jim's music, I know Arlo Guthrie, James Taylor, and others all visited him there. Julia Pook (an awesome host) is doing a "Go Fund Me" to raise money to restore the famous outbuilding behind the farmhouse. It's the one from the album cover "You Don't Mess Around with Jim" where he's looking out through the window. My thought is, why can't a few of us "You Tubers" get together to help raise this money? I know it's time for me to "give back" for all the help that you guys have given me through the years. I will be making a donation but I was hoping to do more, even if it's just getting the word out, but I would love to do some of Jim's music to help somehow.
