I love his episode at The Soap Kitchen, which can also be seen on their website. Their bar soap “California’s Gold” smells amazing! It was named in honor of Huell. Just a suggestion from an old RV'er, rinse your black water hose out before stowing it otherwise, your storage area will start to smell and always use gloves when handling it - real easy to contaminate other things with bacteria. I kept ours placed in an old milk crate away from are gray and freash water hoses. Finally, if your only going to be camping in a spot overnight, shut your black water tank down and empty in the morning using your gray water tank.

Dear NZ family, I so remember my first time in a huge toy store in Rochester, NY when we moved to the States from New Zealand. We went to a huge store called "The Children's Palace" and it was amazing. My boys were only 3 and 5 and we were shopping for Christmas. We arrived there December 18th, 1986 and all their toys were either in storage in New Zealand or still being shipped to us. I was like a child in a candy store shopping for my children. I see the same joy in Sam's eyes as he shopped in WalMart for Denzel. It brought back wonderful memories for me. Thank you and I can't wait to watch more. Love, MoAna from Wanganui.

Getting a road atlas is really cool when doing road trips, so you and the kids can actually trace the route with a highlighter each day. Kids will never ask "Are we there yet?" because they can literally see for themselves. It works better than the map on a phone because you can get a much better look at the route, and you get to keep it, rather than it going away as soon as you do another search.
@emmef79704 ай бұрын
So true, I agree. I have always loved road maps. They are a great way to find all of the hidden gems that no one has ever mentioned on your journey. There are so many of those places in California. I love all the small towns/cities along the California coast. So many and so charming. I still have many of the maps we used when I was a kid in the 60’s and 70’s. Very nostalgic, lots of great memories of all the great places we visited. Many of which were random places we stopped just for food, gas, a stretch, a place that looked interesting, something caught our eye, etc. Many we were just inspired to take a drive around the town. I love both car and RV trips. I always considered maps as momentos of our journeys. 😁

Cars had much larger bench seats in those days so we had plenty of room. Back then we followed the rules 🙂

I actually use it in coffee. It cuts the bitterness without needing cream.

@@ct6852the BEST thing to put maple syrup in is coffee. It cuts the bitterness of the coffee without needing sugar, but also adds the sweetness. It seems like the maple flavor might ruin coffee, but it doesn't. (It HAS to be 100% pure maple syrup tho, not Log Cabin corn syrup.)

I also love that you decided to start in California, it's such a beautiful state and so underrated.

I love that 5 hours is a long drive. 😂. For spring break one year, I drove from Indiana to Miami Florida for a week. It took around 20ish hours and we did it without stopping for the night.

It's so great to see your family travels. It reminds me of my childhood and our family vacations all across the country in a camper truck. Amazing times, I hope your family looks back on the trip with fond memories in the future.

This video was basically a tour of my life for 40+ years. I lived in Lompoc near Santa Maria, Pismo Beach, and Paso Robles which you likely passed by when you had to detour to the 101 instead of Highway 1. I lived on Highway 1 north of San Simeon at Ragged Point where I worked for over 7 years and lived along the cliffs. It’s the first place as you rise up to the cliffs of Big Sur.

I have lived in Texas my whole 74 years and you are acting exactly as I did the first time many years ago that I saw the California coast. It is truly one of the most magnificent beautiful places in all of America. If California wasn’t so expensive to live there, the whole country of America would move there lol. But there are many beautiful places in America as you will see! >
