Personally I catch my marshmallow on fire, let it burn just a few seconds, blow it out, then put it on the chocolate and graham. The hotter the marshmallow the faster and more efficiently the chocolate melts. Incidentally we pronounce it Gram not Grey Ham. You guys need to watch The Sandlot. There’s a great scene in there about S’mores.

As mentioned in other comments, the degree of roasting the marshmallow changes the taste of the whole treat. I join others in liking ours burnt. Besides, it's fun to blow out the flames. Camping or sitting around a campfire at home is not complete without them. So happy you were brave to try. Here's to George for sending these to them! 👍🤗

@@mescko But you miss out on the tangy crunch of burnt sugar. I love how the burnt marshmallow tames the sweetness of the chocolate. I don't burn them when I just want a marshmallow, but for a s'more it is a necessary step to engulfe it in flames until it is charcoal on the outside.

FYI: S'more is a contraction of the phrase "some more". S'mores appeared in a cookbook in the early 1920s, where it was called a "Graham Cracker Sandwich". The text indicates that the treat was already popular with both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

What makes me SO happy is that you prepared them CORRECTLY! I've watched so many videos where they don't even attempt to make them correctly and they don't turn out properly. I loved the sugar rush giggles. They are so delicious you can't eat one and have to have S'more. Try them with a Reese's cup instead of a chocolate bar......or any favorite chocolate. I like chocolate with caramel in the center. MMMMMM Also, the marshallows are wonderful just toasted and eaten that way. I like to get them a perfect golden brown so the outside is crunchy toasted and the inside still gooey. Look up recipes for graham cracker crust. We use them, crushed up and then mixed with melted butter, packed into the bottom of a pie tin for the crust of cheese cakes, cream pies, etc.

So first you have to let it catch on fire. Watch it burn and let the entire outside blacken. Blow it out, and now you have the perfect marshmallow. The blackened outside can usually slide right off if done right, but don't do this. The slight layer of burnt sugar and slight layer of caramelized sugar encases a perfect melted center and tastes godly.

"Graham cracker" is a whole-wheat biscuit (in NZ terms) invented by a somewhat insane 19th-century nutritionist named Graham, for reasons that probably aren't appropriate for all ages. Let's just say that he thought his pure wheat biscuits would prevent young boys from engaging in certain pastimes. Regardless, it's a really tasty semi-sweet biscuit that goes amazingly well with cinnamon, or with s'mores, or as the crust of a cheesecake.

There are lots of ways to do them ... my personal favorite is to burn the marshmallow and then put them together but you can also use chocolate Graham crackers too. Try different kinds of chocolate as well ... chocolate with nuts, chocolate with mint, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, anything you think sounds good. And Graham crackers are a sweet cracker which can be used to make pie crusts. And here is the ultimate ... make a Graham cracker crust, mix up the browie mix and pour it on top, bake as directed, let that cool for a while (so they can be cut later) then place mini marshmallows on top and put under the broiler till they're browned and mushy, cut into pieces.

Hi! So a few tips about s’mores 1. I personally like when the marshmallow flames! Blow it out and use it. It tastes a bit more caramel-ly. 2. My boys don’t care for s’mores but love to dunk graham (pronounced gram) crackers in milk and quickly eat them before they get too soggy.

It does not taste the same as a s’more, but you can microwave the marshmallow and kneed it between your fingers while it is still melty (be careful, it’s hot) and it kinda forms into taffy!

So you can use Ghirardelli chocolate squares in any flavor. Also you can make them in the stove. Lay the graham and chocolate out like you did on the pan, but add a marshmallow on top of the chocolate, put the pan in the oven and broil until golden brown, about 3-5 min. You can also make s'more dip by adding chocolate chips to a baking dish or deep cast iron pan (optional peanut butter layer), cover chocolate layer with marshmallows broil until golden, take it out of the oven and dip your graham crackers in.

Wow! You just brought back so many good childhood memories to thousands of Americans. And yes, they are called S'mores because once you have one you want s'more. Graham (typically just pronounced gram) crackers are a specific type of cracker, usually slightly sweetened with honey, hence the honey grahams are usually used for s'mores. There is also a version that's coated with sugar and cinnamon that are very good; however, not as good for s'mores. Other companies are starting to use graham more often in their products, such as Goldfish crackers which were always mostly just a cheddar cracker, now has a vanilla cupcake flavored graham edition.

“The Graham Cracker originated in the United States in the mid-19th century, with commercial development from about 1880. It is eaten as a snack food, usually honey, cinnamon-flavored or chocolate and is used as an ingredient in some foods. The graham cracker was inspired by the preaching of Sylvester Graham who was part of the 19th-century temperance movement. He believed that minimizing pleasure and stimulation of all kinds. His followers were called Grahamites and formed one of the first vegetarian movements in America; graham flour, graham crackers, and graham bread were created for them. Graham neither invented nor profited from these products.” - Wiki

When I was growiing up, no girl scout troop camping trip was complete without a campfire and s'mores. Being good scouts, we also made our own sit-upons to sit on around the campfire! (To make a sit-upon, you get a stack of folded-in-half newspapers several inches high. Cut 2 pieces of naughahyde or other thick waterproof material in a square several inches larger on all sides than the stack of newspapers. Put both squares together and punch holes in a straight line about and inch and a half apart and an inch or two in from the edge all the way around the perimeter of the 2 squares. keeping them together so the holes will line up. Put down one piece of naughahyde with the inner side facing up, center the stack of newspapers on it, then top with the other piece of naughahyde with the inner side next to the newspapers. Using any waterproof cord, whipstitch through the holes all the way around the square and tie off the cord when you get back to the starting point. And you have your sit-upon. Keep it in the trunk of your car handy for anyplace you go where you need to sit on the ground.) If you get a chance, also use the Graham crackers to make a pie crust - just crush them and press them all over the bottom and sides of your pie plate - look up some recipes online. They're best with cold/no bake pies. You can also use a shot glass to press a spoonful down into the bottom of small paper muffin cups that you've lined a mini-muffin tin with. Then fill those with cheesecake filling and top with the fruit from a can of cherry or blueberry pie filling and refigerate the whole pan. Later that evening you will be in heaven with Netflix and that pan of mini cheesecakes!

Recently found your channel. Enjoying it. We love our s’mores. I grew up in Alabama (a southeastern US state) and we had our own twist we called “Alabama S’more” … marshmallow on a generous smear of peanut butter on a saltine cracker baked in the oven long enough to brown the marshmallow. I think it was just Mom’s way of giving us a treat on Saturday nights that did not involve a campfire, but we loved them as much as the traditional s’more. And, if you want to go crazy, you could add peanut butter to the more traditional s’more.

Ok a trick about s'mores if you don't have a fire, you can put them in the microwave. Put the bottom cracker on a plate, top it with the chocolate (if u use 2 squares it melts better) top the chocolate with the marshmallow and put it in for 10 seconds or so until the marshmallow starts blowing up and getting all soft and melty top it with the other graham cracker. Then you have a quick snack anytime. 😊

Graham, as in the crackers, refers to the type of wheat that is used to make them. It is an easily digestible product, so was use in health clinics to feed that had digestive problems. That worked, so they started giving them to children in kindergartens, (although I always called them "Kinder-Gardens", as these were where kinder's, (German for children), were raised, just as a plant in a garden.
